Chassi: Plástico com construção robusta
O MSI Sword 16 HX vem com um chassi de plástico padrão. Recebemos um dos modelos de cor mais escura e, infelizmente, ele é um ímã de impressões digitais e gordura. Webcam

Nossa variante Sword 16 HX usa a mesma tela que o MSI Raider GE68 HX 13VF que testamos no ano passado. O Sword 16 HX vem com um painel IPS FHD+ (1.920 x 1.200) de 16 polegadas com clock de 144 Hz. Também está disponível uma versão de resolução mais alta com resolução QHD+ (2.560 x 1.600) e a mesma taxa de atualização.
Seu brilho máximo chega a 312 nits, mas não de maneira uniforme. Felizmente, a tela fosca tem um mínimo de vazamento de luz de fundo. No entanto, o tempo de resposta de cinza para cinza é bastante alto, 26,32 ms, assim como o de branco para branco (17,17 ms).
Provavelmente será melhor conectá-lo a um monitor externo se o senhor quiser jogar de forma competitiva. A MSI oferece quatro modos de desempenho no Sword 16: Extreme Performance, Balanced, Silent e Super Battery. Infelizmente, o SSD Western Digital PC SN560 NVMe do Sword 16 HX é uma das unidades mais lentas disponíveis no mercado. Ele é superado com folga pelas ofertas concorrentes da Samsung, Kioxia e SK Hynix.
Como não pudemos ver o interior, não sabemos onde o SSD PC SN560 está conectado, mas é provável que esteja encaixado no slot PCIe Gen5.

Desempenho da GPU
A Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 encontrada no MSI Sword 16 HX não é uma das mais rápidas que testamos, mas podemos atribuir isso ao seu TDP de 115 watts contra 140 watts dos outros. A decisão da MSI de usar uma variante de 115 watts faz sentido, pois resfriar sua variante de 150 watts seria um desafio nessa faixa de preço.
Dito isso, a configuração atual da MSI prioriza a GPU em detrimento da CPU. Em uma carga de trabalho mista de CPU e GPU intensiva, o GeForce RTX 4070 é executado consistentemente a 115 watts, enquanto o Core i7-14700HX permanece estável em torno de 86 watts.
De modo geral, o desempenho do notebook em testes sintéticos é aceitável e está alinhado com outros SKUs RTX 4070 de 115 watts. A MSI permite que o senhor alterne entre ela e a iGPU via software. No entanto, a troca entre as GPUs requer uma reinicialização. O senhor também tem a opção de permitir que o Windows alterne automaticamente entre a dGPU e a iGPU.
Há uma perda perceptível no desempenho da GPU quando o usuário alterna entre vários perfis de energia. No 3DMark Steel Nomad, o Sword 16 marca 2.643 pontos no perfil Extreme Performance. Esse número cai para 2.140 (-19%) no Silent.

Desempenho em jogos
Como um laptop para jogos, o Sword 16 HX tem uma finalidade: jogar. Não é de surpreender que ele faça isso muito bem. Deixando de lado a tela sem brilho, a combinação CPU/GPU pode facilmente executar até mesmo os títulos mais exigentes com taxas de quadros respeitáveis.
Todos os títulos que testamos se saíram muito bem a 1440p. os jogos em 4K, por outro lado, podem ser um desafio, especialmente para os títulos mais recentes. Se o senhor tiver que jogar em 4K, terá que desembolsar mais dinheiro para comprar um laptop com RTX 4080/4090 ou contar com DLSS/FSR ou até mesmo XeSS.

Ruído do sistema
Uma das primeiras coisas que notamos no Sword 16 é o barulho que as ventoinhas podem fazer sob carga. Mesmo quando colocadas a alguns metros de distância, o ruído pode chegar a 55 dB(A) durante os jogos. Isso não é necessariamente uma coisa ruim, pois o notebook precisa de todo o resfriamento possível para manter as temperaturas sob controle.

Como o MSI Sword 16 é um mid-ranger, ele tem que se contentar com uma unidade de 65 Wh que não dura muito tempo quando a CPU/GPU são levemente pressionadas. Com o modo "Super Battery" ativado, conseguimos até 4 horas e 40 minutos de duração da bateria com a tela configurada para 150 nits.
É interessante notar que a duração da bateria diminuiu durante a reprodução de vídeo H.246, provavelmente devido ao fato de o laptop não alternar automaticamente para a iGPU. Se o senhor tiver que usar o laptop longe da rede elétrica, recomendamos mudar para os modos "Silent" ou "Super Battery" para otimizar a duração da bateria.

Veredicto: Um laptop decente para jogos que não tenta ofuscar a concorrência
Nosso principal problema com o MSI Sword 16 HX é a tela. Além de sua precisão de cores estar abaixo da média, seus tempos de resposta são altos, o que a torna menos do que ideal para títulos FPS de ritmo acelerado. Felizmente, isso é facilmente compensado pela conexão de um monitor externo.
Outras peculiaridades incluem o conector de alimentação com posicionamento questionável, SSD lento e problemas com a porta HDMI. Certifique-se de verificar a versão do BIOS e atualizá-la. Dito isso, ele foi projetado para jogar e cumpre muito bem essa tarefa.
O MSI Sword 16 HX faz uma boa ponte entre preço e desempenho com uma combinação de hardware potente e um preço justo."
Por enquanto, uma combinação de Raptor Lake-HX e Ada Lovelace é a melhor combinação que se pode obter em um laptop para jogos. A paixão da Intel e da AMD pela IA significa que não teremos novas SKUs de alta potência até o próximo ano. Com base na trajetória atualas novas GPUs para notebooks da Nvidia/AMD podem demorar ainda mais para chegar.
Com os custos de hardware de PC disparando, o MSI Sword 16 HX pode servir como um substituto decente para o desktop. Se quiser uma tela e um armazenamento melhores, considere o Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 ou o Lenovo Legion 7 16 G9. Ambos custam mais ou menos o mesmo e são notavelmente melhores do que o MSI Sword 16 nesse aspecto.
