A Mercury Series é a linha de mini-PCs da Minisforum que são pequenos e, ainda assim, oferecem um desempenho atraente. O modelo mais recente, conhecido como EM780, vem com um AMD Ryzen 7 7840U e tem um desempenho sólido, apesar de seu design compacto. O minicomputador brilha com seus 32 GB de RAM e modernas interfaces USB4 e, portanto, é quase incomparável. O Minisforum deu ao Mercury Series EM780 um SoC mais novo como uma atualização do EM680. O AMD Ryzen 7 7840U também possui oito núcleos nativos, mas está equipado com uma iGPU muito mais recente. O fabricante também não economizou na memória, colocando 32 GB de RAM LPDDR5 no dispositivo, embora ela não possa ser atualizada. Além da capacidade de armazenamento, as especificações básicas são sempre as mesmas. A configuração com um SSD de 512 GB está atualmente disponível por € 699 (US$ 619) na loja on-line da Minisforum. Por 30 euros a mais (729 euros ou 639 dólares), o senhor também pode obter o Mercury Series EM780 com 1 TB de armazenamento, que é o modelo no qual estamos nos concentrando aqui.

O Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 usa o mesmo chassi do EM680, o que significa que o novo modelo também é extremamente compacto. Com uma pegada de apenas 80 x 80 mm (3,15 x 3,15 pol.), o Minisforum EM780 também ocupa muito pouco espaço. Além disso, o dispositivo é bastante fino, com apenas 43 mm (1,69 pol.) de espessura. Em termos de material, a Minisforum optou por dar ao dispositivo uma construção predominantemente plástica. O plástico é extremamente resistente graças ao design compacto. Somente as aberturas de ventilação são equipadas com malha metálica, o que permite que os componentes internos recebam ar fresco suficiente.

Especificações

Apesar de ser um dos menores minicomputadores do momento, o Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 tem uma seleção impressionante de E/Ss. Embora o senhor certamente tenha que aceitar algumas limitações, tudo o que é importante está essencialmente presente. Há um total de cinco portas USB, duas das quais oferecem velocidade USB4. Além das duas portas Type-C, que têm capacidade de saída de vídeo, o senhor também pode conectar outro monitor via HDMI. Isso significa que até três monitores podem ser usados simultaneamente com o dispositivo. Mas há outra coisa a ser observada: os periféricos devem ser compatíveis com o Power Delivery porque o EM780 é alimentado pela porta USB-C.

Conectividade

No interior do Mercury Series EM780, um Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1675w garante uma conexão sem fio estável e rápida. Em nosso teste realista, o módulo Wi-Fi apresentou um desempenho consistentemente bom. Dito isso, ele não foi capaz de atingir o nível de desempenho mostrado pelo MediaTek RZ616 no EM680 quando conectado a uma rede de 6 GHz. Manutenção

A quantidade de manutenção que pode ser feita pelo usuário no Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 é limitada ao mínimo. Somente a tampa inferior pode ser removida com relativa facilidade se o senhor precisar substituir o SSD que está embaixo. De qualquer forma, não há espaço para uma segunda unidade de armazenamento no mini-PC. Não é recomendável desmontar ainda mais o dispositivo, muito menos desmontar o cooler da CPU. Dentro da caixa há também uma nota que diz que o metal líquido é usado para a transferência de calor.

Desempenho - AMD Ryzen 7 7840U com 8 núcleos e 16 threads

Todas as variantes do Mercury Series EM780 vêm com o AMD Ryzen 7 7840U. Como sucessor do Ryzen 7 6800Uo SoC mais recente pode ser executado em velocidades de clock um pouco mais altas e apresenta a mais recente Radeon 780M iGPU. A julgar por essas especificações, o mini-PC deve ser capaz de lidar bem com tarefas mais exigentes. O SoC é acompanhado por 32 GB de RAM LPDDR5 (6.400 MT/s) e um SSD de 1 TB.

Com o AMD Ryzen 7 7840Uo Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 recebeu um SoC eficiente com desempenho adequado. No entanto, um aspecto que se destacou foi o desempenho comparativamente baixo de um único núcleo. Mas o SoC Zen 4 pode oferecer resultados sólidos em testes de desempenho multi-thread. Quase todos os dispositivos em nossa comparação estão empatados quando se trata de sua pontuação média de desempenho. Somente o Geekom A7 com um AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS conseguiu obter uma vantagem um pouco maior sobre o restante do grupo.

Apesar de o Mercury Series EM780 ser excepcionalmente pequeno e, portanto, ter uma unidade de resfriamento muito menor do que a maioria dos outros minicomputadores, o nível de desempenho da CPU ainda é excelente. Isso se reflete claramente nos benchmarks AIDA64, em que nossa unidade de análise ficou firmemente em segundo lugar.

Executar o Cinebench R15 em um loop é bastante exigente para o Ryzen 7 7840U. Como resultado, ele nos permite dar uma olhada no funcionamento da unidade de resfriamento. Os resultados obtidos após 50 execuções mostram que o desempenho permaneceu muito estável ao longo do tempo. Latência DPC

Quando usado para navegação básica na Web, o Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 não teve nenhum problema com o aumento da latência. A unidade de análise também lidou sem esforço com a reprodução de nosso vídeo de teste em 4K, embora tenhamos notado algumas quedas de quadros. A latência só aumentou quando o Prime95 começou a ser executado. Acreditamos que o EM780 ainda seria um excelente cliente de streaming.

Armazenamento em massa

Devido ao seu design, o Mercury Series EM780 vem com um SSD extremamente pequeno. A unidade de armazenamento, que mede apenas 30 mm (1,18 pol.) de comprimento, é fabricada pela Kingston e oferece taxas de transferência úteis. Pelo menos o armazenamento não está instalado permanentemente e pode ser substituído. Na parte inferior do dispositivo, a Minisforum colocou um ventilador e um dissipador de calor adicionais para evitar o superaquecimento do SSD. Esse sistema parece ter dado resultado, pois a velocidade de leitura permaneceu estável durante todo o teste de estresse. Assim como seu antecessor, o EM780 só pode acomodar uma unidade de armazenamento.

O modelo mais recente está classificado acima de seu antecessor e produziu melhor desempenho em todos os aspectos. O excelente desempenho da AMD Radeon 780M continua nos jogos testados. A iGPU tem um desempenho nitidamente superior ao da Radeon 680M. O número de jogos jogáveis em uma humilde iGPU aumentou enormemente. No entanto, o senhor terá que se contentar com um nível menor de detalhes. No momento, somente uma placa de vídeo dedicada pode oferecer ao senhor um desempenho 3D melhor do que a 780M. Teste de duas eGPUs com o desempenho da Minisforum Mercury Series EM780

Como a Minisforum equipou o Mercury Series EM780 com portas USB4, o computador do tamanho da palma da mão também pode ser usado com uma placa gráfica externa. Demos uma olhada no ganho de desempenho ao combinar o minicomputador com uma placa gráfica GPD G1 e depois com um Razer Core X e uma placa de vídeo Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. Enquanto a AMD Radeon 780M já ofereça um desempenho adequado, a conexão de uma eGPU ainda aumentará consideravelmente o desempenho 3D. Às vezes, é possível até mesmo jogar jogos modernos a 1440p. Dito isso, as limitações técnicas relacionadas à interface USB4 são algo com que o senhor terá de lidar. Isso ocorre porque uma placa de vídeo externa só pode se comunicar com o minicomputador em até PCIe 3.0 x4. Embora o Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 tenha muita potência em um chassi extremamente compacto, os níveis de ruído que medimos foram consistentemente excelentes. Nossa unidade de análise atingiu um pouco mais de 30 dB(A) em modo inativo. O nível de ruído aumentou para cerca de 32 dB(A) sob carga normal e atingiu 38 dB(A) durante o teste de estresse. Embora seja importante observar que a ventoinha na parte inferior não afetou nossas medições. A principal fonte de ruído é a ventoinha da CPU, que aspira ar fresco da parte superior.

Temperatura

Não observamos nenhum valor extremo em relação às temperaturas do chassi. A parte inferior ficou um pouco mais quente do que a parte superior por causa do SSD e do dissipador de calor. O processador em si ficou tão quente quanto 83,9°C (183,0°F) durante o teste de estresse. O Minisforum definiu um limite térmico para o processador, mas isso não é um problema, considerando que o SoC é capaz de operar continuamente a 28 watts (TDP).

O Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 é um PC extremamente pequeno que apresenta bom desempenho em quase todos os aspectos. O mini-PC é equipado com um processador moderno de oito núcleos na forma de um AMD Ryzen 7 7840U. Ao mesmo tempo, o SoC possui uma iGPU bastante potente que é capaz de alcançar um excelente desempenho, apesar do baixo consumo de energia. O Minisforum EM780 possui uma enorme quantidade de potência em um espaço de apenas 80 x 80 mm (3,15 x 3,15 pol.). O senhor também estará bem servido pelos 32 GB de RAM DDR5. Infelizmente, a memória não pode ser expandida nem substituída, o que é uma das desvantagens desses PCs compactos. Por outro lado, é possível atualizar o armazenamento em massa no EM780. A unidade de armazenamento tem uma capacidade relativamente generosa de 1 TB. O dispositivo tem encaixe e acabamento impecáveis, embora o chassi seja em grande parte feito de plástico. O mini-PC ainda é agradável ao toque e a escolha do material também não afeta a robustez do dispositivo.

O impressionante Minisforum Mercury Series EM780 oferece excelente desempenho em um pacote muito pequeno, sem sacrificar as portas de E/S de última geração, como a USB4.

Gostamos muito do sistema de resfriamento. Ele é capaz de remover com eficiência o calor do AMD Ryzen 7 7840U. Não há nenhuma perda de desempenho, mesmo sob carga total. O mesmo se aplica ao SSD, que recebeu uma unidade de resfriamento separada. O nível de ruído é razoavelmente bom no geral, o que significa que o senhor não ouvirá nenhum ruído irritante em segundo plano quando o computador estiver em funcionamento. A Minisforum contornou a falta de uma porta Ethernet incluindo um adaptador que pode ser conectado via USB4. O minicomputador EM780 custará ao senhor €729 (US$639). Isso não é de forma alguma um roubo, mas o senhor terá um dos minicomputadores mais compactos nessa categoria de desempenho.
