By pricing it at S$1,600+, Samsung placed its Galaxy S25 Edge against other premium Android phones that are equally powerful, long-lasting, with magical photo-taking capabilities and pleasant designs. We like you, Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, because you’re fun, you’re attractive, and you feel terrific in our hands. But alas, we cannot bring you home — you’re not going to survive the day, after all.

On its merits, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge does exactly what it sets out to do: Provide a flagship-like experience for slightly less money than the most expensive one, at a much more appealing form factor. And if you want a super-thin, flagship-like Galaxy smartphone, this is it. The physical design of the S25 Edge is, indeed, a selling point if you care a lot about phones being thin and light. I personally don’t find my regular iPhone 16 to be prohibitively bulky, but I can’t lie: Using it after using the S25 Edge makes it feel that way. Thanks to a high-end chipset, you get comparable performance to Samsung’s best phone, too. Battery life is definitely something you’ll have to compromise on, and in my experience, the display isn’t great in bright sunlight, but this is a solid phone in almost every other way.

Despite that, though, it’s the compromises Samsung has made on camera hardware that ultimately prove the Galaxy S25 Edge’s undoing. The idea of paying over £1,000 for a phone that doesn’t have a telephoto camera and can’t zoom beyond 10x just doesn’t sit right in 2025. Not when phones costing considerably less than this are beginning to include telephoto lenses as standard. And that’s a shame because, otherwise, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge makes a fairly strong case for the skinny phone as an alternative to the mainstream. Performance is excellent, the display is gorgeous and even the battery life, though the weakest of its siblings, isn’t disastrously bad. If Samsung could have squeezed a telephoto camera in here, I’d be recommending it without question. As things stand, however, as interesting and impressive as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is, I don’t think it’s the version you want to spend your money on. Maybe Samsung will get it right next year.

Most of the time, the Galaxy S25 Edge is even more limited than a Galaxy Z Flip 6 ($1099.99 at Samsung). Yes, they’re both ambitious form factors, and yes, they both have just two rear cameras compared to Samsung’s usual three, but that feels more like a perk of the Flip and a drawback of the Edge. See, I like the fact that I can grab Samsung’s most recent flip phone, slip it into my pocket, and go about my day. When I need to check on something, I can usually do it from the power-sipping Flex Window, which helps ease my inevitable battery anxiety. I can let the two rear cameras do more than their usual workload, doubling as high-resolution selfie shooters with reliable wide and ultrawide fields of view. I can even tap into most of the Galaxy AI features I’ve come to rely on, all without ever unfolding the hinge.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is the nicest phone I've ever held, and it bears all the hallmarks that make the Galaxy S25 series so compelling. There are some significant shortcomings in the smaller battery, a lack of sharpness in the camera, and no telephoto lens, but what you're left with is something spectacular. Holding is believing, and when you hold the Galaxy S25 Edge, it may ruin other phones for you.

Let’s talk about the good parts first. The performance is, by and large, what you expect from premium handsets. A 1440p high-quality AMOLED display paired with the best Qualcomm phone processor available today makes it excel in flagship phone duties. Its key proposition — the 5.8mm body — is a winner in both aesthetics and practicality. Yes, there are real-world advantages of using a slim phone, even if nobody asked for one. Your pinky finger, pockets, and purses will thank you for even considering it, and we do not say that lightly. Tying it all together are the hygiene factors, such as its double Gorilla Glass protection, IP68 rating, fast RAM and storage, an excellent main camera, and software that’s both familiar in terms of user experience and security.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is a compelling evolution of the smartphone concept. Its slim form factor is an excellent rebuttal to phones getting too big for pockets, although it’s still too tall to comfortably navigate one-handed. Samsung made minimal compromises in making the S25 Edge. It’s powerful, speedy, and a treat to look at. I miss having a telephoto lens, and the price is steep, but everything that counts either meets or exceeds expectations. If there was a similarly thin handset with the height of a base Galaxy S25 or iPhone 16, I’d seriously consider it as my next phone.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is an interesting release. The ultra-thin build is certainly impressive, and the device isn’t bad at anything. At $1,100, not being bad at anything really isn’t enough. For the same money, you can get a phone that has a longer-lasting battery and a more versatile camera, and while you will sacrifice the ultra-thin look and feel, you’ll still get a flagship phone with a premium design and what most would consider to be a “thin enough” build. In other words, you’re going to have to decide what’s more important to you. Do you want an industry-leading camera, long-lasting battery, and very premium design, or are you willing to sacrifice some of those things in favor of a thinner build? I suspect most will go for the former.

You'll also get the Samsung One UI 7 experience, which is stuffed to the gils with helpful AI-powered features that were introduced earlier this year. For example, Morning Brief gives you the weather forecast, and brings up any upcoming events for the day from your calendar. All the Galaxy AI features like real-time translation for calls as well as writing and photo editing tools are there. So is Google's Gemini AI assistant, now with camera and screen sharing when using Gemini Live. My 12GB + 256GB Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge review set costs S$1,628, which is the same price as the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Of course, the S25 Ultra was released earlier this year, and hence has been discounted slightly. So consumers can now choose between a slimmer, lighter flagship phone — albeit with some cut-down features — and a full-featured, proper flagship phone.

The Galaxy S25 Edge isn’t Samsung’s answer to what everyone wants, it’s their answer to what some users might not even realise they want. A phone that’s not just another spec war participant, but one that shows off what happens when design takes centre stage… even if it means making a few bold trade-offs. In a world where phones are getting heavier, bulkier, and increasingly spec-driven, Samsung has taken a step sideways. They’ve built a flagship that prioritises design, comfort, and portability, and they’ve done it without stripping away the essentials. But being different also means accepting compromises. The battery is fine, not great, and thermals could become an issue for sustained heavy use. The camera is dependable but doesn’t push the envelope. It’s not a phone for everyone, and it’s definitely not meant to be.

I love that the Galaxy S25 Edge has been made. No-one really asked for it, the short battery life makes it less useful than its sibling S25 phones, and the race to make “the thinnest” anything is dull and played out. Yet, it’s the Galaxy S25 series phone I’ve enjoyed the most, and the one I’d want to use long-term. The performance, camera, and screen are among the best you can get today, but what makes the S25 Edge special and so desirable is that it’s all wrapped up in one of the most tactile, ergonomic, and downright cool designs we’ve seen yet. The Galaxy S25 Edge is more than just a thin phone, it’s the exciting start of a new trend, and after spending just a short time with the phone I’m absolutely onboard. Once you’ve held the S25 Edge for just a few moments, I think you will be too.

Being first on the scene with any new tech counts for a lot, so Samsung gets a big thumbs up for redefining “thin phones” before the likes of Apple could. The Galaxy S25 Edge is fantastically slim and light, yet still packs in flagship-grade power beneath its big, beautiful screen. The OneUI interface is as slick as ever, and that lead lens can take some particularly pleasing photos. Battery life is the elephant in the room. Barely being able to scrape through a single day of moderate use is a disappointment, no two ways about it, and charging speeds are properly pedestrian. The sooner Samsung steps up its game here, the better. That puts the Galaxy S25 Edge in an awkward position. The cheaper S25 Plus isn’t exactly a porker, yet it lasts considerably longer per charge; and if photography matters most, the flagship S25 Ultra isn’t an awful lot more cash.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is stunningly thin and light, putting it head and shoulders above every other flagship phone on the market. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is a slim and capable flagship smartphone with a full complement of premium features and AI enhancements from Samsung and Google. However, with a starting price of Rs 109,999 (12GB + 256GB), it is clearly intended for users who place a high priority on form factor above all else. For those seeking a more balanced package in terms of specifications and value, other models in the Galaxy S25 series may offer a better overall proposition.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is neither intended to be a jack-of-all-trades like the S25 Ultra, nor a slimmed-down version of the S25 Plus. Priced at Rs 1,09,999, this handset caters to a specific audience. The S25 Edge is ideal for those who prioritise a flagship experience in a sleek, lightweight design. Its ultra-slim profile sets it apart from bulkier competitors, some of which are nearly as large and heavy as a power bank. However, this streamlined design comes with a few trade-offs. The most notable is the camera setup, which, while capable, lacks a dedicated telephoto lens. Furthermore, although Samsung has optimised the device to comfortably last a full day with regular use, the battery capacity and charging speeds feel underwhelming at this price point. Apart from these niggles, there is little to complain about.

It's really easy to like the Galaxy S25 Edge and it's really hard to recommend it. What it does is it kind of lives up to expectations for a good slim phone: it has a pretty sturdy body for what it is, it has the main camera of the S25 Ultra, and it has One UI which so many people love. But it doesn't pull off a battery miracle, and as a buyer you should not just wave off this concern. But if you are fully aware of this shortcoming, I think the S25 Edge will make you happy with its feather-light weight that defies expectations and its super slim body. It's a looker and that counts for something in a monotone smartphone market.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge adeptly balances power, polish, and portability in an appealing and svelte frame. It offers an excellent screen, top-tier performance, a leading software update policy, and surprisingly excellent battery life. Other than limited photo zoom and charging speed, there are few trade-offs for the phone's thin design. The Galaxy S25 Ultra does everything the S25 Edge can, but adds two telephoto cameras, a larger screen, and an S Pen stylus, so it remains our Editors' Choice winner. Samsung thinks the Galaxy S25 Edge is the phone bridging between the Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra. That’s made salient by showing how it trades away both battery life and telephoto shooting to accommodate its appearance. However, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is for people looking for a telephoto-less Galaxy S25 with nearly the same battery capacity in a slimmer build. In a way, it’s like a base S25 being pushed to its limits, with extra attention paid to its build quality at the cost of a zoom camera. It also has a higher display resolution than a base S25 and a main camera with higher megapixel count, so you’re still guaranteed Samsung’s premium experience with this ultra-thin phone. Where we struggle to think like Samsung lies in its pricing.

On the connectivity front, you get Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, USB Type-C port, and NFC. To conclude, the latest handset from the brand brings a new design philosophy, which might be limited to the Galaxy S25 Edge. The handset now fills the gap between the Galaxy S25 Plus and the Galaxy S25 Ultra, giving customers more choice and a customised experience. Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge feels like a smartphone that wants to have the edge over other smartphones visually and physically. Whether this translates into long-term stable performance will become clearer with time. But for now, Samsung’s approach suggests an intent to create a niche product that leans into style, lightness and tactility, without rushing into extremes. My first impression of the device is that it values design precision marking a shift over traditional flagship design formulas. How will that resonates with users will depend on how much they value slimness and whether the compromises made in pursuit of that ideal are acceptable.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is the phone for Samsung fans who like to complain. Does your Galaxy S25 Plus feel too thick for your tight jeans and small hands? Is the Galaxy S25 Ultra too heavy for your bag? The Galaxy S25 Edge is precisely the phone you want, nothing more and nothing less. The Galaxy S25 Edge is the solution to a very simple formula. Take a Galaxy S25 Plus. Shave 1.5mm off the thickness by removing the zoom camera and shrinking the battery. Add a 200MP camera sensor. Wrap it in titanium. Voila: Galaxy S25 Edge! Seriously, that’s it; that’s the whole phone. The Galaxy S25 Edge has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset inside, with the same 12GB of RAM as the Galaxy S25 Plus. There’s a bigger vapor chamber for improved cooling, but we’re talking about a minuscule space made slightly less so.

Everyone who asks me for professional advice on what phone they should buy usually boils their key priorities down to two things: battery life and cameras. With that in mind, it’s certainly an interesting strategy for Samsung to compromise in those two areas in order to achieve the slimmer build. This is just a first look, mind you, and it could well be that the battery life surprises me in testing, or the two rear cameras are so good that I forget telephotos even exist. So far, though, I don’t know if I see the appeal. Regardless, I will be putting this skinny smartphone through its paces in the near future so be sure to check back soon for my final verdict.

Four months after it was teased, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is finally here. It marks Samsung’s first Edge phone in almost a decade (in a very different sense) and has already made headlines for its ultra-slim design – at just 5.8mm, it’s one of the thinnest smartphones ever made. Before trying the device for myself, I was excited to see just how slim it felt. But after some hands-on time with the S25 Edge, another characteristic ended up being much more impressive.

I honestly believe that the Galaxy S25 Edge is in a tough position, mainly because of how it’s priced and the compromises it makes in order to achieve its thinness. At $1,099, it’s $200 more expensive than the similarly sized Galaxy S25 Plus — and $200 less than the Galaxy S25 Ultra flagship.Battery life is clearly the one area where the Galaxy S25 Edge is at a big disadvantage. You could argue the same for its cameras, but I think its dual-camera setup can still pack a punch. Yes, I’m willing to overlook not having a dedicated telephoto camera just as long as it makes do with pixel binning techniques to effectively reach the similar results. You can’t take away Samsung’s accomplishment here in creating a flagship phone that’s bonkers thin compared to anything else around.

I was skeptical about the Galaxy S25 Edge. Sure, a thin phone is nice to have, but not if it could come at the cost of elements like performance, cameras and battery life. But as soon as I held the phone in my hands, I understood. The phone is so vastly different from some of the best phones in 2025, with not only a thinner chassis but a much lighter one, more reminiscent of phones from around 10 years ago – but in the best way possible. Samsung has also packed in top-end tech like a Snapdragon 8 Elite to help justify the phone’s premium £1,099, but there’s no denying that compromises have been made. The phone’s 200MP main camera is great, but there’s no dedicated telephoto lens. And, while enough for the compact Galaxy S24, I do have great concerns about overall battery life powering such a large, high-end screen. That said, from a usability standpoint, it looks like Samsung could have a winner on its hands – though I’ll save my final thoughts for once I’ve spent more time with the device.

So no, this probably isn’t the most practical phone purchase you can make right now — but it was never meant to be. As with Samsung’s foldable phones, there’s more than a hint of form over function to the Edge. I’m impressed that Samsung has managed to keep so much of the phone on par with the other S25 models, but the camera and battery are hardly small considerations. They’re big compromises to make for the sake of getting a little pocket space back, but until I’ve had the chance to test the camera fully and push the battery for a few days, it’s impossible to say if it’s a trade worth making.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is so impressively thin that, when I held up its three colors, Kevin felt extra inspired to shoot The Shortcut’s cover photo in the style of X-Men, saying, “Hold them up like you have Wolverine’s claws.” Silly, but it worked. At 5.8mm, this phone is blade-thin, and, for a 6.7-inch screen, it’s incredibly light, or “light AF” (AF = as a feather, of course). The S25 Edge is an engineering marvel. It’ll arrive in stores on May 30, four months before we see a super-thin iPhone 17 Air. This is a preview for Apple owners as much as it is for Samsung fans. Do you need a thin phone? For the rumored Galaxy Z Fold 7 that folds in half, it makes sense. But there are trade-offs here. The S25 Edge’s “all-day battery life” is better than the base S24 but not quite at the level of the base S25, according to Samsung.

With a body that measures just 5.8 mm thin, the new Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is one of the thinnest smartphones ever. It does so without sacrificing its top-notch, high-end features. Samsung also installed a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, a 3K display, and a 200-megapixel camera in the super-slim body. So back to our other key question – just who is the Galaxy S25 for? From my point of view, it’s someone who’s not price-sensitive (obviously) who doesn’t want a larger and heavier S25 Ultra that weighs 60g or so more. But the comparison with the S25+ is much more challenging. The S25 Edge may weigh 27g less and be 1.5mm thinner, but it’s also £100 more (and indeed, you can get the S25+ cheaper than that at the moment). You have to be pretty nuts to go for the Edge unless the price decreases markedly. It might be a feat of miniturisation, but there’s just no justification for it as things stand.
