Resident Evil Village Benchmarks suggest Capcom's latest can run even on integrated graphics
Resident Evil Village is shaping up to be a visual spectacle. On the plus side, though, it also appears to run extremely well on a wide range of hardware. Guru3D's performance review, for instance, saw cards like the GeForce RTX 3090 clear a remarkable 200 FPS at 1080p. A range of high-end and midrange cards like the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti even made a good fist of running the game at 4K, far above their weight class.
As with id's magic in Doom Eternal, highly optimized Capcom code in the RE Engine means that the game scales remarkably well across lower-end configurations. Even the ancient Radeon RX 580 is able to deliver a solid 1080p/60 FPS experience. Going one step further, PC Gamer tried running Resident Evil 8 on a system with the Ryzen 5 3400G APU and no dedicated graphics whatsoever. The built-in Vega 11 iGPU goes up to 1400 MHz and shares system memory.
Despite these profound limitations, PC Gamer actually managed decent results. The Vega 11 dished out a 54 FPS average when the "Prioritize Performance" preset was enabled, at 720p. Considering how easily overclockable APU graphics are, a mild boost to the Vega's core clock could be enough to push it past the 60 FPS point.
For a game that's touted, on the one hand, as a showcase of genuine next-gen visuals, that's quite an achievement.
