Nokia's G10 is an entry-level smartphone with a large battery and a monthly update promise for 3 years. We will take a look at whether the inexpensive phone with the Scandinavian design is also convincing in everyday use in our review.

Nokia G10 is an entry-level smartphone and thus, all the specifications reflect this including the entry-level chipset, decent display type, and so on. Do you know that there's no charger included in the retail box? Yes, it's true as Nokia is making some cutbacks to lower the price tag. There are plenty of other smartphones at this price tag that offers much more on the table such as the Poco M3 is way more powerful with a midrange SD662 SoC and almost the same pricing which makes me wonder why to buy such an expensive phone in comparison. The camera setup is decent although low-light photography is below average. Perhaps the major USP of the Nokia G10 is its battery and the software onboard which is stock which means you get a clear Android 11 which is highly optimized and lightweight. However, the charging time is too much so there's a lot of compromises to make at the price tag.

If you are looking at the Nokia G10 4G, you are a budget shopper, and you have a choice of several phones at this price. Why am I telling you this up front in a review? Because invariably smartphone makers tell us you can’t make a decent smartphone that retails for much less than $199, and on the whole, I agree. You will normally get 32-bit Android (common to most devices <4GB RAM) that runs slowly, approx. 6.5” 1280×720 screen (let’s not get into brightness, colour accuracy), 32GB (15GB free) of slower eMMC storage, a tri-camera (usually 12MP plus depth) and a 4500/5000mAh battery in an all-plastic case. That describes the Nokia G10 4G and its competition to a tee.

The Nokia G10 can give you an acceptable gaming experience when it comes to MOBA games and average on FPS games. However, it has a hard time maintaining consistent performance in triple-A games, but for browsing and a day-to-day companion, the Nokia G10 is a worthy device. It is priced at P6,990 for 4GB plus 64GB. Albeit, last year, this price range offered a higher Helio G70 or G80 processor from other competitors, however, if I will going to use a phone that will still give me security in 2 years, Nokia is one of the trusted brands that can offer a 2 years Android Upgrade. This means the main selling point of this device is compatibility and optimization that is still present after a year or so. Buying this phone will give you peace of mind, long battery life, and a solid build.

The Nokia G10 is one device that we consider a good daily driver for casual users. It’s affordable, has decent cameras and performance, and long battery life. It’s not for those who want to play graphic-intensive games given the entry-level chipset. The small RAM and storage add to that limitation as well. It’s good for social media use, online classes, or entertainment. Should you buy it? If you’re on a tight budget, the Nokia G10 is a good option for PHP 6,990. But if you can stretch the budget a bit, even for a couple of thousand pesos, you might find a better alternative.

A year ago, the Nokia G10's crisp display, excellent battery life, and multi-year OS upgrades would have been enough to excuse its sluggish processor, paltry storage, and mediocre build quality. But the budget phone market has changed a lot over the past 12 months, and the G10 can’t keep pace with its competition. The Moto G Play comes in at just $20 more than the G10 and far surpasses it, with superior build quality, longer battery life, and a more robust mobile chipset. If you can spend a little more money, check out our Editors’ Choice winner for low-cost phones, the Samsung Galaxy A32 5G ($279.99). It looks great, it's more durable, and it has a much more powerful chipset, with good cameras and 5G connectivity to boot. With phones like that on the market, there's just no room for one that cuts as many corners as the G10.

Our review of the Nokia G10 in the Philippines shows that it is a good incremental upgrade to the Nokia 2.4 with a more modern look, improved overall camera performance, a bigger battery, and the use of a USB-C port. While its processor is lackluster for a sub-Php 7k phone, the main selling point of the Nokia G10 is its guaranteed 2 years of major Android updates–a commitment we rarely see on any budget phone even up to this day.

The Nokia G20 presents as a good honest phone with nothing to hide. It’s very cheap, reasonably well made and its battery can potentially last two days if you don’t go too hard on the media. This is useful because you really won’t want to go hard on the media with this phone. The G20’s LCD display, with its fuzzy 720p resolution and lowly 60Hz refresh rate, doesn’t exactly make video or gaming content sing. This is also fine, but even general navigation can feel sluggish and choppy here. Nokia’s clean approach to Android software is commendable, particularly with its renewed commitment to extensive updates. But thinking about how the Nokia G20 is likely to be running in two or even three years makes me wince. Ultimately, this is a very cheap phone, so I can’t be too hard on it. But you can get better performance for similar money, and spending a little more will secure significant gains in all departments.

And the design of the device is just modern enough to not disappoint. With a coat of textured paint that makes the device feel good in the hand, with minimal slip. While also helping the color tone shift, at least in the case of our review unit, from a deep satisfying blue to a purple hue that would make even The Artist (Formerly Known as Prince) happy. Meanwhile, the biggest benefit of this smartphone is its battery life. Not only will it last all day. It will last multiple days with moderate use and battery-saving features such as adaptive brightness turned on. So if that’s what you’re looking for in a bundle costing less than $200, the Nokia G20 could easily be it.

After using the Nokia G20 for a week it became clear that this is a budget smartphone with entry-level performance. Nokia promises software updates, but the lacklustre hardware means that the UI struggles to keep up with daily tasks, even though it's running a near-stock version of Android 11. The two-day battery life is quite good, but charging that 5,050mAh battery takes more than three hours. Camera performance is just about okay in the daytime and the same goes for video quality. Even Samsung's Galaxy F22 (Review), priced at Rs. 12,499, offers much better hardware with a 90Hz HD+ Super AMOLED display, a capable Helio G80 processor, and a 6,000mAh battery.

The Nokia G20 has a genuinely impressive battery that barely drains when idle and should remain functional for days. Its satisfyingly simple stock Android software, striking design, and decent main camera all add up to a more-than-respectable package for a $200 phone. But its slow chipset, last-gen Wi-Fi support, and low-resolution display undermine the experience. Anyone willing to spend just a bit more can likely find something better.

To wrap up this review of the Nokia G20, it’s a fairly underwhelming phone. While its design, clean Android experience, and battery life are somewhat of saving grace, the phone ultimately lags behind the competition when it comes to performance. Maybe MediaTek’s Helio G80/G85 would’ve been a better choice for a phone at this price bracket. Still, if you’re a casual smartphone user who wants an excellent battery endurance and reliable software experience, the Nokia G20 makes for an appealing choice.

Without the camera array saving the day, it’s hard to say exactly what the Nokia G50 does better than its main rivals. I’d say – purely subjectively, mind you – that it looks a bit smarter than both the Poco X3 NFC and the Moto G50, but that’s probably where the advantages end. With regards to screen tech and camera quality, it falls short slightly, and it’s essentially a dead heat on performance as well. Add to that the fact that the Poco X3 NFC and Moto G50 are a bit older and therefore currently cheaper, and there aren't many reasons to pick up the Nokia G50 instead, despite not doing much wrong. If you see it for a decent discount, jump right in – otherwise, get the Poco X3 NFC if you don’t need 5G, or the Moto G50 if you do.

The Nokia G50 is an interesting budget handset, in that it has no single weakness that acts as a deal-breaker but no particular positive that sets it out as a release to note either. Its screen is big – but low resolution and dim. Although it comes with a relatively versatile range of cameras, image quality is nothing to write home about. Its performance is just about good enough, but the competition is offering more for less. Much of the appeal of the Nokia G50 for most people will centre around it being marketed as an affordable 5G handset, and yet for many this isn’t a feature they can access, sometimes for years. If you simply need a smartphone that will receive three years of software updates and that offers the bare minimum in every area, the G50 (especially with a discount) will serve you well. In every other scenario, we’d recommend looking elsewhere. The G50 is a smartphone without a clear audience in mind, with no real raison d’etre – and, ultimately, this impacts the experience of using it heavily. It’s good enough for many, but the best for no one.

I have to be honest here and say, whilst I would like to fully recommend the Nokia G50 5G, I just feel that there could, or should have been better than it is. With a few minor changes to the device, it would be easier to recommend. Yes it has a bigger screen, but it is capped at 60Hz refresh. Its battery life is great but this is partly due to the the processor and chipsets being relatively low power which makes the experience feel a bit underwhelming. The same can also be said for the cameras as on paper they seem like a potential winner, but the experience and photo taken with the Nokia G50 5G just feel underwhelming. Yes granted there is the inclusion of 2-3 years worth of security and firmware updates which I think are amazing and should be adopted by all Android OEM’s, it is not enough to try and cross the device over the additional lines here. If you’re happy with a device that will support moderate usage and want access to 5G on a budget, the Nokia G50 5G could be the device your after. If you’re after more bang, better camera software and processing power then might be best looking elsewhere.

Currently, the success of virtually every phone depends not only on its parameters or price-quality ratio. We can look at design, we can look at a brand, but no matter how polished and unique a product is, its success is based on how much better it will be than the competition. Nokia G50 may be enjoyed, although it doesn't have impressive specs - but the suggested price makes it not going to be easy to fight against a myriad of rivals. Chinese brands such as Realme, Redmi or Poco are able to offer 5G smartphones for the same money with much more interesting possibilities, with better screens (e.g. Full HD + and 90 Hz) and better performance. Nokia G50 can attract attention among people who like large smartphones that provide a lot of space to work and "consume" multimedia. And those that don't like branded overlays. However, there are many things that do not fully suit me in the reviewed model, such as a bad screen, low gigabytes of memory and a processor.

The $300 Nokia G50 is neither the cheapest nor the best budget 5G phone out there, and you may be better served by its competitors. For example, the $239.99 OnePlus Nord N200 5G uses the same Snapdragon 480 5G processor as the G50 but has a 1080p display with 90Hz refresh rate for less money. Or, if you’re already a T-Mobile customer, the $300 OnePlus Nord N10 5G might be the better choice, as it uses the faster Snapdragon 690 5G processor and has the same HD display as its sibling. The Samsung Galaxy A32 5G is another popular choice at $279. It uses a faster MediaTek Dimensity 720 5G processor, has four years of security updates, and is compatible with the newer 5G C-band. Yet all these budget 5G phones suffer from the same problem: they all had to compromise in some way to make room for its more expensive 5G components. Since 5G isn’t ubiquitous yet and is hardly essential to our lives in 2021, I’m not sure it’s necessary to limit yourself to 5G phones when there is a world of 4G phones that already offers better value and user experience.

The Nokia G50 5g smartphone arrives with the decent specifications that are demanded in today’s needs. Plus, you’re getting decent software and hardware support. But, the camera quality may not match the brand, you will still get impressive results with adequate lighting, but on the other hand, in low light image quality fails miserably. However, the total value of the G50 phone cannot be determined with these facts alone. On the other hand, the phone has better battery life and an impressive color screen. Therefore, everything is managed uniformly. If you’re looking for something under $300, the Nokia G50 is worth your time. But if 5G connectivity is installed in your region, it is highly recommended to use a 4G phone, where you will get better features and specs – like the Vivo iQOO Z5 smartphone.

The mobile industry wants you to think 5G is a reason to buy a smartphone, but it’s not. At least, it’s not yet. It’s better to think of it as a feature that may help you keep hold of the phone for longer, and instead look at features that enhance ownership on a daily basis now, such as the screen and the camera when choosing a new phone. The G50 doesn’t excel in either area, but provides adequate ability for the price, and wins with its great software and long battery life.

The Nokia G50 is easily one of the least expensive 5G phones on the market so I, of course, leaped at the chance to review the gadget when offered. While my experience with networking was basically as I’d expected, my experiences elsewhere were not. As described throughout this review, in fact, they were better than expected almost across the board. So anybody who’s looking for a great modern handset with the latest connectivity features without the hassle of paying over $600 should really be considering Nokia G50. It’s easily one of the best budget 5G handsets available today.

On first impressions, there's nothing terribly exciting about the Nokia G50. It seeks to offer the things that matter in an un-fussy fashion and appears to do that. You get a big battery, big screen and you're future-proofed thanks to 5G support and having the Android One program for software updates. When you compare it to what's on offer from some lesser known and less-easily-available phones from Chinese brands like Realme, Redmi and Poco, it doesn't seem all that competitive. But where it has the edge is that you're more likely to find a G50 on a phone store shelf. Still, all some people want is a big phone that can last for ages on a full charge and helps them stay in touch with people, shop and do social media. With 5G becoming more wide-spread, it makes sense to have a budget phone jumping on board the 5G train and getting up to speed, ready for the future.

With an extra-long update promise, the Nokia G21 aims to stand out from the crowd of low-priced 4G phones. Compared to its predecessor, the Nokia G21 finally gets faster Wi-Fi and a stylish casing. We take a closer look at this under-200 Euro mid-range smartphone in this review.

That being said, I don’t think the Nokia G21’s cameras can do enough to outweigh the phone’s long list of negatives. Yes, the design is rather nice and the clean Android installation is always a positive, but the phone’s so-so performance and weak battery life don’t help the Nokia G21 pull away from the competition. Besides, we haven’t mentioned the display. I don’t say this often, but the Nokia G21’s screen is really quite poor, and that alone is enough to stop the phone from earning any sort of recommendation, no matter how cheap it might be. Do yourself a favour and pick up the Moto G31 instead – it might not have a 90Hz display like the Nokia, but it’s an OLED, so your eyes (and sanity) will thank you for it.

Now that we know about all the important details and specifications of the newly launched Nokia G21, let’s answer the most important question: whether or not you should consider getting the Nokia G21 for yourself? The shortest possible answer is yes, the Nokia G21 offers a stock-android software experience along with smooth performance during the day to day usage. Meanwhile, the 5050mAh battery paired with a relatively capable processor allows more work to be done in between charges. This leads us to say that the Nokia G21 only makes sense as a daily driver if you have a pretty limited budget and are particularly looking for a clean UI experience paired with a large battery and an adequately powerful processor or if you are a brand loyalist. However, if you are ready to increase your budget a bit you can get your hands on some better alternatives like the Moto G52, Redmi Note 11 or Oppo K10.

If your budget is strictly in the Rs 12,000 range, and you want Android without bloatware experience, the Nokia G21 is an option to consider. This is perhaps okay for someone getting their first smartphone. But remember, Motorola also has its G31, now available at a lower starting price of Rs 10,999. This one too has a ‘clean’ Android experience to offer coupled with a better processor. Nokia G21’s other problem is that many of the older Redmi 10, and Realme 8i are retailing in a similar price zone, and offer better processors and specifications.

The Nokia G21 is not the most ideal choice for a budget smartphone as it falls short in terms of performance, cameras, and display quality. However, the device excels in providing a clean software experience, decently good battery life, and a robust build. Users with more processor-intrinsic needs can look to the POCO M3 Pro 5G (review) but brand loyalists can consider the Nokia G21.

It’s been said again and again, but only becomes more true with every passing month: the budget smartphone market is enormously competitive. In 2022, it takes more than ever before to remain relevant and stand out – and on balance the Nokia G21 achieves neither. Pairing a weak camera, poor performance and an underwhelming display for the asking price of £149.99 leaves the G21 feeling like a time-traveller from years past. Other than its sturdy build quality, promise of long software updates and great battery life, it has few qualities to its name.

Nokia’s budget smartphone portfolio has been slowly expanding in India off late. The latest one the Finnish company added to its G-series family of phones is the Nokia G21. The Nokia G21 price in India starts at Rs 12,999 and looks to be a promising smartphone. But how does that convert to practical usage? Let’s have a look. The Nokia G21 is definitely a good smartphone for its price and offers a very good battery backup. Having said that we feel camera performance could have been slightly better.

The Nokia G21 is an affordable 4G Android phone, the kind that may make a lot of sense if you want to buy SIM-free, putting an end to the days of paying big mobile bills each month. We’re always game for this kind of Android, but the Nokia G21 isn’t one of the best. The screen is too dull to keep up with rival headsets. It’s something you’ll likely notice every time you use the phone outdoors. Display color is slightly weak, too, although may not prove off-putting if you like a laidback appearance. The Nokia G21 also has an unusual Unisoc processor that means you miss out on 5G. Handling demanding games isn’t this phone’s forte, and in this regard the speaker doesn’t help either; it isn’t loud and it’s rather thin sounding.

Delivering a verdict on a phone at this price isn't easy: of course, it's a long way behind the best smartphones on the market, but then it's also a fair margin behind other budget phones that for only a small sum more will deliver much greater results. In terms of its performance and camera quality we might give the Nokia G21 two stars out of five, but as far as value for money goes it's more like a four-star phone. Still, that sums it up as a low-cost letdown overall. That said, if you're not going to ask much from a basic handset – and this Nokia will send messages, take calls, and browse the web happily enough – then the G21 may find a place with some buyers where it fits the bill.

With three-day battery life, a balanced processor, and a big screen, the Nokia G21 feels like a solid smartphone on the budget end – but it won’t excite. A restrictive 720p resolution and a camera that’s got plenty of megapixels but not a lot to show for it, however, render it a competent work phone that you won’t readily be reaching for after the day is done.

The Nokia G11 Plus is a small update of last year's Nokia G11 with a better camera, slightly larger screen and more modern software. But is the G11 Plus really better than its predecessor in all areas?

The Nokia G11 Plus smartphone doesn’t disappoint users with its entry-level specs and features. It presents itself with pride and joy for the users who are searching for a phone for a decent and affordable price point. You will obtain lots of amazing features such as an amazing display, ample battery size, casual social media surfing, and a near-stock android experience. However, there’s no denying that the phone has some shortcomings. Whether it’s about average camera quality or mediocre performance aspect, it is expected from the entry-level smartphone in the first place. But if this device is not available in your country, we would suggest you check the Samsung Galaxy A13 as an alternative option that it brings a better camera and battery support with lots of customization options.

The Nokia G400 smartphone has pretty basic specs that don’t impact the mid-range segment. However, if you look at the clean UI experience with decent battery life to support your daily activities, this phone would be an amazing deal. However, we won’t deny that the phone also has its equal share of flaws, which might be a deal breaker for many readers. To give you a rough example, the performance is tolerable, and the graphics are good for casual games, while we won’t recommend this phone to those people who are looking for better camera quality. If we have to suggest an alternative, we ask you to check the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11T Pro which comes with all rounded features and makes this phone a better alternative.

With so much competition in the affordable 5G handset space, the Nokia G60 5G stands apart by nailing the basics – it’s a solid-feeling device with a HD display that’s big, if not overly beautiful. There’s plenty of onboard storage and decent performance, one impressive camera, and it’s a nice cheap way to get on board with Android and get 5G speeds. If you can look past the dull speaker and very basic camera setup (aside from the main snapper), it’s well worth a look.

Otherwise, if you’re looking for something more in line with the Nokia G60’s starting price in the U.K., then take a look at the OnePlus Nord N300 5G. It offers a similar package to the Nokia G60, with a slightly reduced display refresh rate, but an increased battery size and charging rate. It’s also similar-looking, making it a solid alternative for the sub-$250 market. All elements considered, the Nokia G60 5G is a solid budget 5G smartphone. The low RAM and software issues are annoying, but they’re easy enough compromises to deal with when you consider the strong processor, excellent display, and solid battery life. The Nokia G60 5G is a good budget device that’ll appeal to budget gamers and the value-conscious alike, and it’s worth looking at — if the price is right.

After going through the different sections, the Nokia G60 is a good phone with lots of interesting features to talk about it. From the display to the battery section, the overall phone experience is good enough according to the price range. But the camera quality could have been better, while not giving a charger to the mid-range phone might not be a great idea. Overall, if you are looking for a clean UI experience under $400, then we will recommend you purchase this phone but don’t expect higher camera quality or fast charging support. The G60 5G is well built, takes a decent photo (as long as you stick to the main sensor) and delivers respectable performance for a sub-£300 phone. But the same can be said for many of its rivals. The Motorola G82 doesn’t demand much more cash, yet comes with an AMOLED screen, bigger battery and stabilised main camera. It’s the Nokia’s environmental chops that give it reason for being. You can pick one up on the firm’s Circular subscription plan for £12.50 a month, keep it for the length of a typical contract from any of the UK mobile networks, and be quids in when it’s time to hand it back – while also knowing it won’t just end up in landfill, but get reused or recycled. Plus you’re contributing to environmental efforts all the while you’re actually using it. We appreciate Nokia’s commitment to sustainability, even if it feels like very early days for a scheme that has yet to demonstrate any meaningful change. Still, for those concerned by the impact their gadgets are having on the planet, that might be enough to sway things in Nokia’s direction.

It’s great to see a major manufacturer produce a phone like the Nokia G22 that can be fixed it at home, encouraging customers to hold onto devices for longer. Not only does this phone save people money, but its also much better for the environment. However, the processor and short-term OS and security update promise on the G22 mean that no matter how many times you replace the battery or display, this phone will still slow down over time and not be supported past three years. It’d be great if Nokia brought this build style to some more premium and longer-supported handsets. The phone does benefit from decent battery life, and near stock Android for a very user-friendly OS – but there is no getting round the fact that budget phone rivals offer better displays and more powerful performance than the G22 for a similar price.

All in all, the Nokia G22 feels more like a G21 Plus than a full-blown evolution. The display, performance and battery life all get much-needed boosts, but otherwise there’s not a lot of advancement here. It’s solid enough for a £150 phone, but if you can push your budget a little further, your money is better spent on the Redmi Note 11, Moto G62 5G or Nokia G50. The one advantage that the G22 has over those models is repairability. It’s not bulletproof – the meagre OS updates kneecap the longevity potential – but the self-repairs are easy enough to do that it could keep the phone off the scrap heap for an extra year. If you can see yourself putting the effort in, the Nokia G22 has a better chance at a longer shelf life than other budget phones, even if it can’t match them in other areas.

The Nokia G22 is the most approachable repairable phone I’ve used. It comes from a much bigger name than the Fairphone 4 or Terracube 2E, and is loads cheaper than either of those models too. Making repairability mainstream? Nothing wrong with that, even if I do think replacing the battery or screen would be beyond some people thanks to the fiddliness of the job. This repairability is derived by essentially weakening the phone’s construction. It’s now comparable to making your own PC — which may be easier than you think if that sounds intimidating. However, I won’t go out of my way to recommend the Nokia G22 to too many people as it feels pretty slow. If you’re going to use your phone a lot, you should get something nippier. And if you are not, by the time the battery ages enough to warrant a replacement, the software will be so out of date you should probably consider changing phones anyway.

There’s no denying that the company offers a low-end chipset with the Nokia G22. It might not be that great with the gaming and multitasking support. But still, it’s a pretty good rounded device if you consider the $200 price point. We understand that the company needs to cut corners and make the deal more appealing to the users. But it’s a tough choice if it won’t able to perform the heavy-duty tasks. If you are looking for a phone just calling and normal social media usage, then this device will be a decent choice. Still, it’s a value-for-money deal at the current price point, and if you are getting a discounted deal, it would be even great. However, we would also recommend checking Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 SE as a cost-efficient option.

The Nokia G22 is a low-end Android smartphone that sets itself apart from the crowd in two ways. It has a very long three-day battery life and an easier-to-repair design that makes DIY fixes a realistic proposition. You won’t need specialised heating and prying tools as the back unclips without glue and components can be unscrewed. You will need some more general tools and a screen fix is still a fairly laborious affair, but it can be done with enough patience after iFixit’s thorough guides. A battery swap is a lot easier, and you can get these components to do fixes at home, which is the first hurdle in any repair. Hopefully this is the start of a positive trend. Otherwise the G22 is a fairly cheap phone. It is pretty slow, the camera is nothing to write home about, it runs Android 12 not the latest 13, and the 90Hz screen is OK but a long way from great. It is good to see a microSD card slot for adding more memory and a headphone socket. But one of the big downsides is a short support life of just three years. No matter how many times you can repair the phone, once it is no longer getting security updates it should not be used.

The Nokia G22 smartphone was announced in February 2023 and the expected price of this phone is $191 (Rs 15,690 in India) approx. It brings a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display panel with a 90Hz refresh rate and 500 nits brightness rating. The display has also protected by corning gorilla glass 3 protection and Splash and dust resistance. Besides this, it includes an 8MP selfie camera and for the backside, the phone provides a triple-camera setup including a 50MP primary camera, a 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth lens. With this setup, you can record videos at 1080p resolution. The Nokia G22 smartphone is available in 4GB RAM with 64GB/128GB internal storage variants, while a shared card slot is also present. The phone equips a Li-Po 5050 mAh battery with 20W fast charging support. It is available in Lagoon Blue, and Meteor Gray color options. The smartphone is powered by a 12nm Unisoc T606 chipset and goes up to a 2×1.6GHz clocking speed. The Nokia G22 runs on the Android 12 OS with clean UI support.

The Nokia G22 starts at £149.99/€179 (~$189) and will be available from March in Meteor Grey or Lagoon Blue color options. When it comes time to make a repair, iFixit will be selling a Fit Kit for just £5, as well as batteries for £22.99, displays for £44.99, and charging ports for £18.99. The last person I know to have their phone screen replaced paid £120 to take it into a shop for a same-day repair, so it’s clear you’ll be able to save a decent amount by doing this yourself. Unfortunately, the Nokia G22 won’t be available in the US, though iFixit does sell its fix kits in North America if you’re tempted to go the DIY route. The company also partners with Samsung for a Self-Repair service for selected Galaxy products.

From what I can tell this early on, the Nokia G22 is certainly a step in the right direction. My two reservations aside, it’s refreshing to write about a smartphone that puts the right to repair front and centre, potentially prolonging its lifespan beyond the typical two-year upgrade cycle. Moving forward, however, I would like to see Nokia incorporate this same consumer-friendly approach in its more premium handsets. The G22’s weak chipset is cause for concern, and while I appreciate Nokia’s commitment to keep costs as low as possible, it would be interesting to find out whether consumers at the higher end of the pricing scale might want these same repairability features in future releases.

Nokia should be applauded for its approach to repairability with cheap replacement parts, easily removed components and a partnership with iFixIt for guides, and it’s something that I’d love to see on more smartphones. That’s paired with a three-year warranty and two OS upgrades, helping users keep the phone for even longer – not bad for a sub-£150 smartphone. Elsewhere, the 50MP camera is a nice touch, and the three-day battery life sounds promising, but I’ll reserve my final thoughts for the full review.

Reviewing the Nokia G22, a budget Android smartphone built to last - with the ability to fix its screen, battery and other bits with simple tools and a guide. This full Nokia G22 tour runs through the specs and features, tests the camera tech - and Chris even shows how to replace the battery, without maiming himself. Here in the UK, this phone will cost £149 and release on March 8. You can order replacement parts from IFixit, such as a screen (£45) or battery (£23). The Nokia G22 serves up some decent specs for that budget price, including a 50MP camera that's fine in good light, although does struggle otherwise. You have a 6.5-inch HD IPS screen protected by Gorilla Glass 3, plus IP52 splash resistance. However, although you get excellent battery life, the Nokia G22 does have limited performance thanks to the basic Unisoc chipset. It's also old Android 12, with a couple of OS upgrades - here's hoping Android 13 arrives soon. So are you tempted by the Nokia G22? The QuickFix design, extended three year warranty and low price are certainly enticing if you want something to hold onto for a while. As long as the performance doesn't suffer more over time, that is.

The Nokia G22's appeal mostly comes from the idea of easy repairability - and having witnessed this phone being cracked open for a battery change, it looks like that's going to be something that's easy to do. It's perhaps strange then that the software side doesn't match this idea of having your device last as long as possible. As an affordable smartphone, the hardware is fitting to the price, although with discounts and sales you might find some deals on devices drifting towards this price. We've not had a chance to fully test the performance, but first impressions suggest that it's going to be a typical Android experience at this price point.

Nokia's G42 surprises with a daring purple color scheme on request, is supposed to be easy to repair, and brings 5G connectivity at a low price. Does Nokia give important impetus with recycled materials and update promises, or is it just one smartphone among many?

Nokia G42 5G is a smartphone that will certainly find its audience and buyers in the market. Of course, the model has both advantages and disadvantages, as there are no perfect devices. Among the advantages, we can highlight: high-quality build, good level of performance, 5G support, autonomy, clean Android, and cameras. As for the drawbacks: the absence of a charging device in the kit and the lower resolution of the display with PPI. There are also debatable points such as the price and storage capacity.

The Nokia G42 pretty capable budget phone that supports 5G connectivity and can be considered by customers who are looking for such specifications. The smartphone’s display, camera, audio and battery performance make it a good value-for-money option. If you aren’t looking for specific features like super fast charging and macro photography, the Nokia G42 can be a fair recommendation. The competition in this segment is on the rise and with this performance, the smartphone is expected to do well in the market.

The Nokia G42 is a surprisingly attractive smartphone of 2023 that is also 5G ready. Its closest alternative smartphone is the Motorola Moto G32, which may provide a slightly better display and camera system but is not 5G-ready. In 2023, we believe every smartphone should be 5G ready, but then again the price constraints come in. So, if you want a decent 5G and an excellent battery backup, then the Nokia G42 is the smartphone to get. But if you are not sold out on the idea of 5G and rather the quality of other components, then the Nokia G42 is not for you. In that case, you should go for the Motorola Moto G32, which offers a better camera system, and an excellent battery life. Judging by the specs, the pricing of the Nokia G42 seems decent and justified unless we don’t talk about a low-resolution display. On top of that, the inclusion of 5G in the Nokia G42 does make it future-proof. So, keep that in mind when deciding which smartphone you should go for ultimately. Therefore, the final decision is up to you and your requirements for a smartphone.

Unboxing the Nokia G42 5G, a bright pink budget smartphone with a sub-£200 UK price but respectable specs, including a 50MP camera, 5000mAh battery and Snapdragon 480 Plus performance. This hands-on review of the Nokia G42 tests out the gaming chops, camera skills etc, and of course that poppy design! While it's the pink Barbie-baiting finish that stands out here, this budget mobile has plenty going for it. The stock Android experience is satisfying, with three years of software updates to enjoy. Battery life is also sublime, although you'll need to knock off the ambient mode for a full weekend. The Nokia G42 5G can happily play games like PubG and Call of Duty, thanks to that Snapdragon setup. I found that other apps all run well too. And if you want a decent camera for under £200, this handset is a worthy choice.

Nokia should be commended for offering us the necessary tools to help the G42 last longer than the average smartphone. But the default setup out of the box is lacking in virtually all areas when compared to competitor devices that cost similar or less money. It redeems itself by being good looking (in its purple guise) and the main camera does take passable shots in good lighting. Elsewhere it's hard to get too enthusiastic. The lack of both a full HD display and 120Hz refresh rate is disappointing, considering what you're asked to pay and the fact we're well into 2023.

The Nokia G42 5G’s global battery score ranked the device slightly below average in the entire database. The Nokia G42 5G’s battery lasted 2.5 days when the device was used moderately. Autonomy when testing individual usages was average overall, but 4G and mobility test cases showed decent autonomy. The charging experience is a drawback of the Nokia G42 5G. With a low-powered 20W charger, it took 2 hours and 45 minutes to fully replenish the battery, which is about double the average of the database. In addition, a quick 5-minute charge provided slightly less than 2 hours on average of additional autonomy. The battery’s efficiency score was dragged down by its charge efficiency, which is one of the lowest we’ve ever measured, despite the adapter efficiency being average. This means that the device struggles to efficiently store the loaded energy in its battery.

As we saw with the Nokia G22, the biggest problem facing the Nokia G42 5G is that its repairability is ultimately undermined by the stingy number of OS upgrades. The ability to replace a failing battery easily is considerably less of a unique selling point if you’re barely going to be using the phone long enough for the cell to wear out in the first place. Granted, OS updates rarely go beyond three years for most phones, but if Nokia wants to add some more trouser to its talk, this is an area that seriously needs to be addressed. This is especially frustrating as, aside from a couple of minor annoyances, the G42 5G is a solid £200 phone. Performance is in line with the competition, battery life is excellent and the camera suite is surprisingly good. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 is still just about top dog in this price range, as the G42 5G can’t surpass that Full HD AMOLED screen, but if you value battery life over display quality, the Nokia G42 5G is a commendable silver medallist.

A good value 5G phone with the extra sparkle of repairability to attract buyers. It’s a very decent performer, looks good in purple, and offers a reasonable camera system as long as you use it in good light. At a budget price, the lower-mid-range performance on offer here makes it a tempting prospect, but questions remain over its longevity.

Now available in Australia, the Nokia G42 continues HMD Global’s work in making phones you can repair yourself, contributing to a more sustainable tech economy. It also comes in a fetching shade of purple while supporting 5G connectivity. It’s the more powerful follow-up to the G22 launched earlier this year, made in collaboration with global repair organisation iFixit. Notably, the new Nokia G42 ships with Android 13 and wields the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ 5G processor; all steps up from its G22 predecessor. As reported earlier in the year based on research from MobileMuster, Australians produce an average of 25kg of e-waste every year. Enabling people to repair technology at home for cheaper than going to a specialty shop is intended to reduce wastage and encourage users to hold onto devices for longer.

There can be no doubt about it, making a phone that stands out at any price is no easy task. With the G42, Nokia has gone for an unusual colour (‘So Purple’) and repairability to achieve this. Both are to be commended, but even without these, the G42 is a solid phone. Though its screen isn’t the highest resolution, it doesn’t have the fastest camera, and it isn’t the most powerful around, it has some compelling qualities to it. With a distinctive design, excellent battery life, long update support, laid-back software and good repairability, the Nokia G42 has a lot going for it, and is a great option for anyone looking for a quality budget handset – provided they aren’t also mobile gamers. For better performance and cameras, you’ll have to spend a little extra on the likes of the Google Pixel 6a.

The Nokia G42 is a cheap phone just grazes the bottom of the middle range, but it comes with a trick: you can buy spare parts and repair it yourself, if you’re so inclined. Performance is adequate and the price is extremely reasonable, so it might be an attractive buy even if you never want to rip the charging port out and replace it.

And the overall feel is speedy, simple and snappy between apps; as good as any mid-priced smart phone on the market. There’s 128GB of storage, so plenty of room for your files and pictures, which can be expanded up to 1TB with a MicroSD card. And the three cameras on the back include a 50MP main one backed by two 2MP cameras specifically for macro and depth, allowing the G42 to capture very nice pictures in all kinds of high and low lighting situations. It has a versatile 3.5 mm headphone jack socket and is charged up with the usual USB-C input. Overall, a very good mobile phone for £199 giving users power and flexibility while also the promise of a future-proofed repairable handset for years to come.
