Intel Pentium N4200

O Intel Pentium N4200 é um SoC quad-core feito principalmente para portáteis econômicos e foi anunciado a meados de 2016. Ele funciona a 1,1-2,5 GHz (Burst) e baseia-se na plataforma Apollo Lake. Similar ao predecessor Braswell, o chip é produzido em um processo de 14 nm (P1273) com FinFETs. Além de quatro núcleos de CPU, o chip também inclui uma GPU com suporte para DirectX 12, bem como um controlador de memória DDR3L/LPDDR3/LPDDR4 (dual-channel, até 1866/2400 MHz).

Arquitetura

Pela primeira vez em um par de anos, a Intel reformulou completamente a arquitetura da CPU da série Atom. O fabricante anuncia ganhos de desempenho de quase 30 por cento, mas não revela nada específico sobre al alterações individuais. A nova arquitetura Goldmont deve, portanto, estar quase no mesmo nível de APUs Beema/Carrizo-L da AMD, em termos de desempenho por-MHz, mas ainda muito atrás de CPUs Core mais caros (como Skylake / Kaby Lake).

Desempenho

O desempenho da CPU do Pentium N4200 com 4 núcleos de CPU e uma velocidade entre 1,1-2,5 GHz deve depender muito da solução de resfriamento. Se o chip puder manter sua velocidade Boost, o N4200 deve ser cerca de 30 por cento mais veloz que a antiga N3700 (Braswell) e competir com uma AMD A8-7410. Isto significa que o processador é perfeitamente apto para tarefas diárias (escritório, navegação) bem como multitarefas moderadas.

Desempenho da GPU

A HD Graphics 505 (Apollo Lake) baseia-se na arquitetura Gen9 da Intel, que suporta DirectX 12 e que também é utilizada para os adaptadores gráficos Kaby Lake / Skylake (como a HD Graphics 520). Equipada com 18 EUs e uma velocidade de até 750 MHz, o desempenho deve estar quase no mesmo nível do antiga HD Graphics 5300. Isto significa que apenas títulos mais antigos, como Counter-Strike: GO ou Diablo 3, rodarão fluentemente.

O chip também inclui um motor de vídeo avançado com suporte para hardware para a reprodução de material VP9 e H.265 (profundidade de cores de 8-bits).

Consumo de Energia

Similar ao predecessor, a Intel especifica o TDP com 6 Watts (SDP 4 Watts – Scenario Design Power). O chip pode, portanto, ser resfriado passivamente, em teoria, mas também é possível em SKUs com ventoinhas.
