Intel Core m3-8100Y
O Intel Core m3-8100Y é um SoC dual-core muito eficiente para comprimidos e portáteis arrefecidos passivamente com base na geração Amber Lake e será anunciado por volta de Agosto de 2018. O CPU consiste em dois núcleos de processador com relógio a 1,1 - 3,4 GHz. Graças ao Hyper Threading, o processador pode executar até quatro fios em simultâneo. Os chips incluem também a GPU Intel HD Graphics 615, um controlador de memória de duplo canal (DDR3L/LPDDR3), bem como o descodificador e codificador de vídeo VP9 e H.265. Em comparação com os predecessores Kaby Lake-Y (por exemplo, Core m3-7Y32), Amber Lake utiliza a mesma arquitectura produzida no processo melhorado de 14nm+ FinFET (não 14nm++) mas oferece velocidades de relógio mais altas a uma classificação TDP aumentada.
A Intel utilizou basicamente a conhecida micro arquitectura da geração Skylake / Kaby Lake, pelo que o desempenho por-MHz é idêntico.
O desempenho da série Y depende muito da solução de arrefecimento do portátil / tablet e das configurações TDP para uma carga sustentada. Portanto, as diferenças entre um Core m3 e um i7 podem ser bastante estreitas, se as térmicas forem muito limitadas. As altas velocidades do relógio Turbo em Amber Lake devem no entanto conduzir a um desempenho muito bom de um único fio para rajadas curtas.
A GPU Intel HD Graphics 615 integrada tem 24 Unidades de Execução (UE) como a antiga HD Graphics 515 e funciona com relógios entre 300 e 950 MHz em combinação com este processador. O desempenho depende muito do limite TDP, bem como da configuração da memória; com LPDDR3-1866 RAM rápida em modo de canal duplo, a GPU deve por vezes ser capaz de competir com os gráficos HD 520, mas também pode ser muito mais lenta em outros cenários. Os jogos modernos a partir de 2016 só funcionarão, se de todo, sem problemas, nas configurações mais baixas.
Ao contrário do Skylake, Kaby Lake e Amber Lake agora também suporta a descodificação de hardware para H.265/HEVC Main10 com uma profundidade de cor de 10 bits, assim como o codec VP9 do Google.
O chip é fabricado no antigo processo de 14 nm+ com transístores FinFET. O TDP típico para a série Y do Lago Âmbar é especificado em 5 Watts (as gerações anteriores eram de 4,5 Watt), e pode ser ajustado em ambas as direcções dependendo do cenário de utilização.
