Intel Core i7-6700
O Intel Core i7-6700 é um processador de desktop quad-core de gama alta baseado na arquitetura Skylake, que foi anunciado em agosto de 2015. A CPU, que é produzida em um processo de 14 nm, funciona a 3,4 até 4,0 GHz (2 núcleos: 3,9 GHz, 4 núcleos: 3,7 GHz) e pode executar até 8 threads simultaneamente graças ao Hyperthreading. Contrário ao Core i7-6700K, o i7-6700 não possui um multiplicador livre e dificilmente poderia receber overclock.
A Intel usa Skylake para substituir tanto Broadwell quanto Haswell e, portanto, mais uma vez utiliza o design de um só núcleos para todas as classes de TDP. Várias melhorias da arquitetura Skylake incluem um maior Out-to-Order-Buffer, otimizações para pre-fetching, bem como maiores ganhos pelo Hyperthreading. No entanto, as mudanças são pequenas para um "Tock" – uma nova microarquitetura – em geral, portanto, o desempenho per-MHz está apenas entre 5-10 % (comparado com Haswell) ou menos de 5 % mais alto (comparado com Broadwell), respectivamente.
Embora o Core i7-6700 tenha uma velocidade um pouco inferior que o antigo i7-4790 (3,6 GHz - 4,0 GHz), o desempenho é um pouco melhor em comparação com o predecessor Haswell. Outro 7 % mais veloz é o modelo top i7-6700K. Inclusive os aplicativos e jogos mais exigentes e não são problema para a CPU de gama alta.
Os gráficos são controlados pela Intel HD Graphics 530 integrada com 24 EUs (Unidades de Execução), com uma velocidade de 350 - 1150 MHz. Comparada com a HD Graphics 4600 (Haswell, 20 EUs), o desempenho aumenta em cerca de 25 por cento. O desempenho geral da GPU ainda é da gama baixa, portanto, os jogos modernos somente podem ser jogados fluentemente com configurações baixas.
A Intel especifica o TDP com 65 Watts.
