Intel i7-7820HK

O Intel Core i7-7820HK é um veloz processador quad-core para portáteis baseado na arquitetura Kaby Lake e foi anunciado em janeiro de 2017. É o segundo modelo mais veloz da série de consumo, no momento de seu lançamento. Apenas o i7-7920HQ e Xeon E3-1535M v6 são mais velozes. Além de quatro núcleos incluindo o suporte para Hyper-Threading, rodando a 2,9 - 3,9 GHz (4 núcleos até 3,5 GHz, 2 núcleos até 3,7 GHz), o processador também está equipado com a GPU HD Graphics 630, bem como um controlador de memória dual-channel (DDR3L-1600/DDR4-2400). Ele é produzido em um processo de 14 nm com transistores FinFET.

Comparado com o Core i7-7820HQ, o 7820HK não possui recursos empresariais como suporte para vPro ou TXT.

Arquitetura

A Intel basicamente utiliza a mesma micro arquitetura comparada com Skylake, portanto, o desempenho por-MHz não é diferente. O fabricante somente reformulou a tecnologia Speed Shift para ajustes dinâmicos mais velozes de voltagens e velocidades, e o melhorado processo de 14nm permite frequências muito maiores, combinadas com uma melhor eficiência que antes.

Desempenho

Devido às velocidades superiores, o desempenho do i7-7820HK é um pouco mais veloz que o do antigo modelo top Skylake, o Core i7-6920HQ (2,9 - 3,8 GHz). O desempenho é suficiente inclusive para atarefas muitos exigentes e está no mesmo nível de poderosos processadores quad-core de desktop.

Gráficos

A Intel HD Graphics 630 integrada tem 24 Unidades de Execução (similar a anteriores HD Graphics 530) rodando a 350 - 1100 MHz. O desempenho depende muito da configuração de memória; deveria ser comparável a uma Nvidia GeForce 920M dedicada, em combinação com uma memória dual-channel DDR4-2133.

Contrário à Skylake, a Kaby Lake agora suporta decodificação por hardware para H.265/HEVC Main 10 com uma profundidade de cores de 10-bits, bem como o codec VP9 da Google. Os processadores dual-core Kaby Lake, que foram anunciados em janeiro, também devem suportar HDCP 2.2.

Consumo de Energia

O chip é produzido em um melhorado processo de 14nm com transistores FinFET, que melhora a eficiência ainda mais. A Intel ainda especifica o TDP com 45 Watts, mas ele também pode ser reduzido para 35 Watts pelos fabricantes de portáteis (cTDP down). Isto, obviamente, irá afetar o desempenho, porque o Turbo Boost não pode ser mantido durante longos períodos.
