Intel Atom Z2580
O Intel Atom Z2580 é um SoC (System on a Chip) com o nome código Penwell e parte da plataforma Medfield. O Z2580 é um SoC de um chip e integra um processador Atom dual core (Saltwell) com frequências de 1,3 - 2 GHz. Graças ao Hyper-Threading pode se executar 4 threads nos dois núcleos (para uma melhor eficiência). O núcleo do CPU Saltwell ainda é muito similar ao primeiro Intel Atom. Portanto, o desempenho por frequência deve ser muito similar (melhorias apenas muito pequenas). No entanto, o CPU agora apresenta uma cache de 256 KB adicional (em um plano de voltagem separado) para permitir que o CPU e cache L2 ingressem em um estado de energia mais baixo. Além disso, o Atom agora suporta algum tipo de Turbo Boost e pode atingir até 2 GHz imediatamente (1,3 GHz de frequência base). Além disso, o núcleo do CPU pode ser downclocked para 100 MHz (em passos de 100 MHz) para economizar energia. O desempenho do processador deve estar no mesmo nível de um processador Atom da geração anterior com frequências de 1,3 - 1,8 GHz (por exemplo, o Atom N550 com freqüência de 1,5 GHz). Portanto, o Z2580 deve ser um dos SoCs mais velozes disponível para smartphones/tablets. A placa de vídeo integrada é baseada em um design PowerVR SGX 544MP2 e tem uma frequência de 400 MHz. O decodificador de vídeo (MPEG4.2, H.264, VC1, WMV) e codificador (MPEG4.2, H.264), também derivam da Imagination Technologies (VDX385 e VDE285) e devem permitir a codificação e decodificação de vídeos 1080p30. Além disso, um controlador de memória dual channel LPDDR2 (2x Bit 32) está integrado para um máximo de 1GB de RAM. Todo o SoC foi otimizado para eficiência energética e baixo consumo de energia.
