A HP alcança exatamente o que esperamos com o ZBook 14u: Todos os itens e recursos essenciais de segurança da clássica série ZBook se juntam em um pacote com preços mais baixos. O hardware dentro do dispositivo é composto por uma mistura de produtos de consumo e de workstation. A carcaça está muito bem feita e contém elementos plásticos e metálicos. Devido ao peso de 1,7 kg (3,7 lbs), o novo workstation revela-se um companheiro agradável. Os dispositivos de entrada também são de alto valor, e os usuários que digitam muito ficarão satisfeitos com eles. O painel TN usado em nossa configuração é um pouco decepcionante. Tal e como vem da fábrica, sofre com uma tonalidade azulada perceptível. No entanto, isso é corrigido após a calibração. Potenciais compradores, que nem sempre manterão o dispositivo ancorado, devem considerar obter um painel IPS.

No entanto, as características de desempenho são o principal ponto aqui. Um processador dual-core é suficiente para este aparelho. Esta CPU é mais comum em portáteis de consumo com baixo TDP. Ela funciona particularmente mal nos benchmarks Multi-Core, quando comparado com o resto da concorrência. Um ponto positivo: Independentemente da carga de trabalho, a CPU não se afoga. O segundo componente importante é a AMD FirePro W4190M. Infelizmente, a GPU vem de 2015, o que se reflete claramente nos resultados de benchmark. No entanto, ele ainda consegue melhores resultados do que os portáteis convencionais nos benchmarks orientados para workstations. No entanto, o ZBook 14u não consegue acompanhar os dispositivos que selecionamos para fins comparativos. 

Por último, voltamos nossa atenção para a duração da bateria e verificamos que o ZBook é capaz de sobreviver a um longo dia de trabalho no escritório. Aqui, apenas o Lenovo ThinkPad P51s poderia obter um melhor resultado.

O ZBook 14u é uma mistura de um workstation intransigente e um dispositivo de consumo. A boa impressão geral desta linha é prejudicada por uma unidade gráfica obsoleta.

Aqueles que querem mais desempenho da CPU e um processador quad-core real, devem dar uma olhada nos dispositivos que selecionamos para fins comparativos. O Lenovo ThinkPad P51s ganha pontos com a sua resistência. O Dell Precision 3520 ganha pontos importantes com seu desempenho, enquanto o Apple MacBook Pro marca pontos com sua excelente tela e a escolha de materiais.
