Assim é bem melhor. A Dell tentou por três anos aperfeiçoar o workstation fino e leve, e o Precision 5530 é o melhor esforço deles até agora. Esta é a máquina que esperávamos que o Precision 5520 fosse, e é bom ver esse refinamento em um pacote tão pequeno.

No entanto, o Precision 5530 não está livre de falhas. O afogamento térmico ainda é um problema, embora não no grau que vimos no 5520 (ou em outros workstations finos e leves). As cargas de trabalho sintéticas exigentes deixam o dispositivo de joelhos, mas não sem uma luta valente. Ainda assim, considerando que os workstations são normalmente projetados para funcionar com toda sua capacidade por períodos prolongados, o desempenho restrito da CPU sob carga e as altas temperaturas em todo o pacote são uma pequena brecha na armadura do Precision 5530.

Deve-se notar que o Precision 5530 preenche um nicho muito específico. Devido ao seu formato, faltam alguns recursos disponíveis em workstations mais grossos, como a série ThinkPad P ou a linha ZBook da HP. As opções de manutenção são limitadas, a seleção de portas é pequena e a falta de opções de RAM ECC pode ser um problema para alguns. Aqueles que precisam da experiência plena do workstation deveriam dar uma olhada na série Dell Precision 7000 ou as máquinas ThinkPad e ZBook mencionadas anteriormente.

O resto da máquina é tão bom que quase compensa o afogamento da CPU. A tela é absolutamente linda e uma das melhores que já vimos fora da linha MacBook Pro da Apple. A tela é brilhante, nítida e vívida; as imagens se destacam e tudo se vê lindo. O chassi continua sendo um ponto forte. A qualidade de construção é excelente e o design é impressionante (especialmente na cor "Onix Escovado" da nossa unidade). Há poucos portáteis que podem combinar com o Precision 5530 em termos de design e ainda menos workstations que sejam tão bonitos.

O Precision 5530 é, sem dúvida, um dos melhores workstations ultraportáteis. Alguns fabricantes se concentram na potência, ignorando o design e a portabilidade. Outros se concentram em tornar o dispositivo o mais fino possível, renunciando a componentes de nível profissional. O Precision 5530 é o melhor equilíbrio entre essas duas ideias que vimos e, se a Dell conseguir resolver os problemas de limitação térmica, o Precision 5540 do ano que vem pode ser o workstation ultraportátil perfeito. No entanto, a mais de $3.500 USD, o Precision 5530 não é para os fracos de coração (ou bolso). Bom trabalho, Dell.
