Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

A configuração básica do Lenovo ThinkPad T460s também é um muito bom portátil de escritório. Por cerca de 1.400 Euros (~$1591), você recebe um sistema veloz com um processador o suficientemente poderoso e um SSD. Somente o equipamento de memória é muito limitado com apenas 4 GB e deveria ser atualizado, o qual também melhoraria o desempenho gráfico. Não ficamos muito contentes sobre a tela Full HD. A Lenovo somente usa painéis IPS, mas a luminescência não cumpre com as afirmações do fabricante, e a versão WQHD também se desempenha melhor nas outras medições. Um problema adicional é a implementação de diferentes painéis Full HD, que podem ter especificações distintas. Se não tiver problemas com o PWM, somente podemos recomendar o painel WQHD. Isto, atualmente é um upgrade grátis quando você configura o portátil na Lenovo e ele também não consome muita mais energia que a contraparte Full HD.

A Lenovo também aumentou o limite habitual do TDP (15 watts) para o Core i5, mas não melhora o desempenho do processador devido às velocidades comparativamente baixas. Você somente pode nota-lo quando estressa a GPU ao mesmo tempo. Tarefas que exigem muito da CPU podem se beneficiar do Core i7, mas o T460s, de fato, deixa uma melhor impressão em termos de emissões e as durações de bateria. Provavelmente o melhor compromisso entre ambos os modelos é uma configuração com o Core i5 e o painel WQHD.

O modelo básico do ThinkPad T460s também é um bom portátil de escritório, mas você deveria optar por uma configuração com o painel WQHD, se possível.

Por causa do baixo brilho da tela, que poderia limitar a usabilidade em ambientes claros, decidimos deduzir dois pontos da avaliação final. Um produto premium, em particular, deveria estar equipado com um painel mais brilhante.
