O Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) é mais poderoso que o predecessor Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7. A tela agora tem uma resolução de 1920 x 1200 pixels (16:10) em vez de 1024 x 768 pixels (4:3), embora a tela seja apenas marginalmente maior (10,1-polegadas vs. 9,7-polegadas). O brilho médio de 520,1 cd/m² melhorou muito em comparação com o antigo Galaxy Tab A 9.7 (392 cd/m²). Outro aspecto positivo são o SoC octa-core Exynos 7870 Octa, que faz com que trabalhar com o tablet sob Android 6.0 seja uma experiência fluente. Inclusive os jogos exigentes com os gráficos rodam sem engasgamento algum. Graças à bateria maior, as durações também melhoraram e o Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) dura muito tempo com uma carga.

SoC mais poderoso, tela mais brilhante, resolução Full-HD e uma duração melhorada da bateria - em comparação com o predecessor, o Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) foi melhorado em muitas áreas.

A versão LTE do Galaxy é particularmente interessante por causa de seu baixo preço. Os usuários em procura de um tablet acessível de 10-polegadas com Android 6, LTE, e tela Full-HD realmente não tem outra opção neste momento, dado que o Galaxy é o único jogo na área. Sem LTE, o preço do tablet cai 50 Euros (~$56).

No entanto, alguns compromissos foram necessários para manter o preço lá embaixo. Apenas 10,5 GB do flash drive de 16 GB estão disponíveis para o usuário - não é muito considerando que este tablet supostamente foi feito para multimídia. Os módulos de câmera também são um pouco decepcionantes, dado que a qualidade da imagem é bastante medíocre. O local dos alto falantes no lado inferior é bom - desde que o usuário não mude para o modo paisagem, o que significaria que o som agora somente viria desde um só lado.
