O extravagante design se espelho faz com que o novo carro chefe Xperia Z5 Premium da Sony chame muito a atenção à primeira vista - literalmente. Umas desvantagens desta incomum apresentação certamente serão a digitais omnipresentes na carcaça, que, no entanto, são fáceis de remover. O smartphone joga na liga superior em termos de tecnologia: O SoC Snapdragon 810 alcança boas taxas de desempenho, e o afogamento somente surge após o uso prolongado e extenso. Além disso, o smartphone se comunica via todo os padrões de rádio comuns, e inclusive a convencional porta micro-USB é versátil, graças ao suporte para MHL 3.0 e USB OTG. O modelo de teste compila alguns pontos extra com o seu leitor de digitais conveniente e confiável, as teclas dedicadas da câmera e o bom som dos alto falantes. Além disso, as chamadas com o smartphone não tinham estática.

E mais uma vez, a câmera principal instalada causou sensações confusas: Primeiramente o autofoco rápidos, as imagens com cores naturais, bem como os extensos recursos de vídeo, são agradáveis. A nitidez da imagem nas bordas e o desempenho sob baixa iluminação não foram muito convincentes. Uma linha fina entre luz e sombra também é encontrada na tela. O contraste, a estabilidade dos ângulos de visão e a nitidez da imagem não dão muitos motivos para reclamar, mas a reprodução das cores de fábrica não é atraente. Também é questionável se um painel ultra HD de 5,5-polegadas realmente faz sentido em um smartphone que não usará sua resolução nativa na maioria das situações. Inclusive se as diferenças marginais forem visíveis em comparação com um painel QHD convencional, somente podem ser vistas com muito esforço. É também uma pena que apesar de seu grande tamanho, a duração da bateria sofra, sendo muito mais curta que a de seus rivais.

O smartphone Premium da Sony resulta ser um gêmeo maior do Xperia Z5 com a mesma base tecnológica, além da tela.

Os compradores dispostos a pagar aproximadamente 150 Euros (~$164) a mais, por uma tela 0,3-polegadas maior que no modelo irmão menor, a sensação do olhar para uma tela 4K e o design brilhante, não experimentarão uma sensação muito mais premium, mas obterão um Xperia Z5 em um tamanho XXL.
