Não há quase nenhum outro fabricante oferecendo um conceito modular semelhante ao da Motorola: A LG retirou-se do mercado de smartphones modulares após uma única tentativa com o LG G5, e o Fairphone 2 baseia-se mais na habilidade de trocar componentes individuais quando quebram ou ficam obsoletos. Em contraste, a série Moto Z da Motorola permite que o usuário conecte qualquer componente da gama disponível de acessórios à traseira do smartphone. Somente a capacidade de trocar as capas de estilo, criando uma traseira diferente, pode ser um aspecto importante para muitos usuários.
O Moto Z3 Play continua compatível com todos os Moto Mods anteriores, o que é outra vantagem desta série. O dispositivo oferece um desempenho de gama média atualizado e ainda vem com um mod de bateria como um brinde adicional na caixa. Este mod aumenta significativamente a capacidade da bateria e os tempos de duração da bateria do Moto Z3 Play. No entanto, deve-se notar que os tempos de duração sem o mod são realmente baixos, por mais estranho que pareça, inclusive em comparação com o predecessor. Provavelmente o maior culpável aqui seja o alto consumo de energia do Moto Z3 Play, mas talvez a Motorola possa melhorar esse aspecto em uma futura atualização de software. Atualmente, o consumo de energia é muito alto.
A tela vibrante, a carcaça de alta qualidade, o GPS decente, o Android puro com garantia de atualização e as câmeras aceitáveis completam o pacote.
O Moto Z3 Play é um dispositivo fino de gama média com durações curtas de bateria. Ele se destaca mais que tudo pelos seus mods.
Os tempos de duração mais curtos da bateria, em comparação com o modelo predecessor, são contrastados pelo desempenho mais alto e pelas opções de comunicação mais avançadas. Dado o preço muito mais baixo, o Moto Z2 Play pode ser uma boa alternativa para quem quer experimentar o sistema Moto Mod.
