O Blade Pro é um portátil de jogos único. No papel, suas especificações não são nada especiais; a CPU i7-7700HQ, a GPU GTX 1060 e a tela IPS 1080p são padrão em sistemas mais baratos como o Gigabyte Aero 15, Asus FX502, ou Gigabyte P55W. Os jogadores com orçamentos apertados podem não gostar do fato de que algo parecido com um Acer Aspire 7 possa se desempenhar de forma similar ao Blade Pro GTX 1060 custando centenas de dólares menos.
Em vez disso, as maiores fortalezas do Blade Pro estão em sua qualidade de construção, características térmicas e design exclusivo. O chassi é mais forte do que parece e objetivamente mais inflexível do que concorrentes mais finos como a série MSI GS, a série Asus Zephyrus, e a série Aorus X7. As séries EVGA SC17 e MSI GT73VR são talvez os contendores mais notáveis quando se trata de rigidez do chassi, mas mesmo estes são mais grossos e volumosos do que o Razer. O Blade Pro é um exemplo magistral de finura e estilo, sem sacrificar as fortes qualidades físicas de designs de portáteis de jogos maiores.
Alguns recursos de hardware, além do excelente chassi, também merecem ser elogiados. A RAM atualizável, a taxa de atualização de 120 Hz e o compartimento de armazenamento de 2,5 polegadas são boas surpresas considerando que o Blade Pro, mais caro, não possui essas opções. As velocidades High Turbo Boost são sustentáveis e as temperaturas durante os jogos são mais baixas do que o esperado, na faixa de 60 a 70 °C. Até mesmo as temperaturas da superfície são notavelmente mais frias que os sistemas concorrentes. Este é um portátil de jogos fino sem muitas das falhas tradicionalmente associadas à categoria.
Existem algumas melhorias importantes que gostaríamos de ver para tornar os futuros SKUs ainda melhores. Em primeiro lugar, mais opções de telas com tempos de resposta mais rápidos de 3 ms/5 ms, definitivamente atrairão mais os jogadores hardcore, mesmo que isso signifique sacrificar os amplos ângulos de visão IPS. O Ghosting é muito menos um problema na maioria dos portáteis MSI e as séries mais recentes do Aorus X7, como resultado. Em segundo lugar, os controles da ventoinha melhorados via Synapse seria uma excelente adição, se os usuários desejassem ventoinhas mais silenciosas ao custo de temperaturas mais elevadas. O Blade Pro GTX 1060 já é muito silencioso quando não está jogando, mas se tornará tão barulhento quanto alternativas concorrentes quando estiver sob estresse. Finalmente, opções de GPU mais rápidas acrescentariam extraordinariamente mais valor ao sistema. O chassi foi projetado para alojar até uma GTX 1080 e as propriedades térmicas já são excelentes com a GTX 1060, então já dá para imaginar como funcionaria com uma GTX 1070 de gama média, ou inclusive uma GTX 1070 Max-Q.
Outros detalhes menores, como teclas com maior deslocamento, subwoofer, trackpad mais firme e opções integradas de mini DisplayPort, teriam dado ao sistema mais uma vantagem pelo preço. Mesmo assim, é difícil não gostar do que já oferece quando o sistema se sente tão bom quanto parece.
O Blade Pro GTX 1060 é o melhor dos dois mundos. É elegante e atraente como um portátil de jogo fino, mas com a qualidade de hardware mais forte e as temperaturas de funcionamento mais frias de uma alternativa mais grossa. O potencial para as GPUs Max-Q e telas com tempos de resposta mais rápidos ainda não foram realizados para este SKU específico.
