A Lenovo cometeu um erro com o ThinkPad E14 Gen 1: Fez um downgrade da memória para single-channel para um chassi mais fino. O Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 corrige este erro. Ao mesmo tempo, oferece melhor desempenho que qualquer E ThinkPad até agora, graças à AMD Ryzen 4000.
Com isso em mente, a série ThinkPad E, claro, continua sendo uma série de portáteis orientada para o orçamento. Isso explica a tela relativamente escura e com cores fracas, a ausência do slot microSD e a pobre seleção de portas.
