Semelhante à forma como o "portátil mais fino do mundo" deve sacrificar certos aspectos do design para alcançar o impulso de marketing desejado, o "Ultrabook mais leve do mundo" traz seu próprio conjunto de inconvenientes únicos. O LG Gram 15 pode ser incrivelmente leve, mas os proprietários estarão desistindo de uma lista de recursos que, de outra forma, estariam presentes em Ultrabooks de "peso padrão".
A desvantagem mais notável é o chassi fraco. A tela com marcos finos não possui reforço de um painel de vidro de ponta a ponta e, portanto, é muito flexível em comparação com a maioria dos Ultrabooks. A base da liga de magnésio é fina e oca em comparação com o esqueleto grosso e pesado do XPS 15. Esses cortes reduzem o peso total do sistema ao custo da rigidez.
Na frente de desempenho, não há opções discretas de GPU e o processador não consegue manter o máximo Turbo Boost por muito tempo. Outros contratempos aparecem sem relação com o baixo peso do sistema, como a luz de fundo relativamente fraca, as dobradiças médias, teclas e trackpad suaves, localização estranha da câmera e a falta de Thunderbolt 3. Quando tomado como um todo, a experiência da LG Gram se sente mais barata e de menor qualidade em comparação com alternativas mais pesadas e mais sólidas como o XPS 15, Spectre x360 15, ou Yoga 720. O Gram-Z15980 atualizado supostamente aborda muitas dessas questões, mas uma avaliação completa do modelo mais recente será necessária para avaliar as mudanças.
Há alguns pontos que se destacam, apesar das desvantagens. O ruído do ventilador geralmente é baixo, tanto o armazenamento como a RAM são surpreendentemente atualizáveis, há uma quantidade razoável de portas, e o preço de entrada é de algumas centenas de dólares a menos do que os Ultrabooks carros-chefe de concorrentes mais conhecidos. Se um Ultrabook leve de 15 polegadas for uma necessidade, então recomendamos conferir o Samsung Notebook 9 em vez do Gram 15Z975 dado que o Samsung é quase tão leve quanto e oferece um teclado mais forme e uma tela muito mais brilhante para uma melhor visibilidade em exteriores.
O leve Gram 15 incentiva o uso em exteriores e em viagens frequentes, mas tudo, desde a tela relativamente fraca, teclado esponjoso, posicionamento pobre da webcam e chassis mais frágil, tornam o LG difícil de recomendar.
