Infelizmente, a HP não apresenta uma configuração balanceada que justificaria o alto preço sugerido. Evidentemente é um aparelho ambicioso, mas em nossa opinião, o painel TN com seus ângulos de visão limitados, contraste pobre e baixa precisão das cores, não é uma boa opção para esta faixa de preços, o qual também se reflete na pontuação. O Latitude E7470 conseguiu uma pontuação de tela de 86%, apesar da tela táctil refletiva, e o HP 840 G3 consegue "apenas" 82%. A webcam também é muito ruim e a conectividade também não é tão boa. Todas estas coisas são o motivo de porquê o aparelho empresarial 840 G3 perde uma muito boa pontuação e deve viver com o segundo lugar, atrás do Latitude E7470.
O EliteBook definitivamente não é um portátil ruim, que é apoiado pelos itens em nossa lista de pros. As durações da bateria, as opções de docking, a capacidade de atualização, excelentes dispositivos de entrada e obviamente muito desempenho – muitos aspectos positivos do portátil de 14-polegadas. A versão 3K do 840 G3 com 2560x1440 pixels pode ser um candidato para uma avaliação muito boa, porque o fabricante usa um painel IPS sem tela táctil (WQHD-UWVA).
Os maiores rivais com um preço similar são o Latitude 14 7000 da Série E7470 (avaliação 89%) e o ThinkPad T460s (avaliação 91%). Ambos os portáteis de 14-polegadas podem ser configurados de forma abrangente. A Dell e a Lenovo já usam paineis IPS para seus modelos FHD, o qual é uma grande vantagem sobre o 840 G3. O Latitude E7470 e ThinkPad T460s não têm um slot para SATA de 2,5-polegadas, portanto, o 840 G3 é o único aparelho que pode ser equipado com um HDD/SSD SATA, além do SSD M.2.
