O Alienware m17 R2 redesenhado une a CPU Core i9-9980HK e a GPU GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q no chassi mais fino até agora da série venerável. Tínhamos previsto um desempenho morno para manter as térmicas sob controle, mas o sistema nos surpreendeu com suas velocidades acima da média, mesmo para um portátil de jogos de gama alta.

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

No caso do Alienware m17 R2, no entanto, é mais um passo lateral do Alienware m17 R1. Esta iteração mais recente adiciona e remove recursos que podem irritar alguns entusiastas. Os proprietários terão que trocar RAM removível, Wi-Fi removível, opções SATA III de 2,5 polegadas, opções de tela UHD 4K e uma bateria maior, como encontrada no m17 R1 original, por um teclado aprimorado, um clickpad maior, iluminação RGB por tecla, e um design de chassi mais recente. O Alienware m17 R2 tem como objetivo maximizar o desempenho do chassi mais fino da série até agora.
