Similar a nossas conclusões entre o Skylake XPS 13 9350 e Kaby Lake XPS 13 9360, o Skylake GL502VM e Kaby Lake GL502VM são essencialmente intercambiável. Até mesmo os gamers terão dificuldade em encontrar vantagens de desempenho realistas na atualização do Kaby Lake, especialmente depois de considerar que a maioria dos títulos modernos estão ligados à GPU e não dependem fortemente do desempenho bruto da CPU. O Kaby Lake GL502VM teria sido uma recomendação mais fácil se tivesse oferecido tempo de duração mais longos, temperaturas mais frias, consumo de energia mais baixo, e ruído da ventoinha mais silencioso devido à sua nova CPU. Infelizmente, nossas medições não mostram que isto seja o caso.
A série GL502 ainda é uma solução mainstream forte para os gamers que também podem estar considerando a série GE/GS da MSI, a série HP Omen, série Lenovo Y, ou a série para jogos Dell Inspiron. Com um pouco de sorte a Asus adicionará mais recursos à família GL502 em uma atualização futura além sa simples troca da CPU que temos aqui. As opções como Thunderbolt 3 ou telas de 120 Hz/5 ms ou inclusive atualizações de software com melhores controles da ventoinha e configurações de energia, podem melhorar muito para o GL502VM.
O GL502VM é atraente com um chassi relativamente leve e rígido. Se sente mais barebone do que deveria, no entanto, com opções de hardware mais limitadas em comparação com a concorrência. O barulho da ventoinha e a duração da bateria são particularmente decepcionantes em nossa unidade de teste PC Xotic e a nova CPU Kaby Lake não fornece quase nenhum benefício para os jogos sobre o SKU Skylake.
