Nossos medos de um sistema que se afoga podem de fora, dado que o GL502VY se desempenha no seu máximo quando está sob cargas de jogos. As temperaturas tanto das superfícies como do interior são controladas por ventoinhas mais barulhentas e rápidas, portanto, é recomendável usar fones mais que no GL502VT.
O G-Sync e Optimus continuam sendo exclusivos e passam sua conta na duração da bateria. Afortunadamente para a maioria dos gamers, durações longas da bateria e gama amplas de cores normalmente não estão no topo da lista. O painel no GL502VY desfruta de tempos de resposta mais rápidos e adaptive sync para uma melhor experiência de jogos que o GL502VT fora das óbvias vantagens gráficas ao pular para um GTX 980M de um GTX 970M.
O nosso maior problema com o GL502VY talvez seja sua falta de um GTX 980M c/ 8 GB de VRAM GDDR5 e suporta para G-Sync externo. Estes recursos em particular teriam outorgado ao sistema, pernas mais longas para sua corrida.
Não existem muitos portáteis de 15,6-polehgadas com opções de GTX 980M, fora dos barebones e o anteriormente mencionado Alienware 15, Gigabyte P35X, Acer Predator 15, e Aorus X5S. A série GL502 não possui opções de atualização de CPU ou GPU para barebones e tem menos recursos que o Alienware 15 e Aorus X5S. No entanto, é construído de maneira mais resistente que o Gigabyte e Aorus sendo menor que o Alienware e Predator.
