A versão 2018 do Aorus X5 v8 é capaz de enfrentar seus rivais na maioria das áreas. Não apenas a carcaça metálica robusta, mas também a conectividade, os dispositivos de entrada e a tela foram convincentes. O painel IPS de 144 Hz oferece um compromisso perfeito entre velocidade e qualidade de imagem (palavra-chave X-Rite Pantone).

Algumas das maiores falhas são o desenvolvimento de alta temperatura e ruído, mas isso é um problema de muitos dispositivos de jogos finos. No geral, colocaríamos o X5 v8 no nível do Asus GM501, que tinha resultados de desempenho muito similares.

O rival mais forte, no entanto, vem do mesmo fabricante que o X5 v8. Aqueles que podem facilmente ficar sem o G-Sync em aplicativos 3D e que estão bem com a perda de alguns FPS podem querer considerar a compra do Aero 15X. O irmão de 15 polegadas está equipado com uma carcaça mais compacta e mais leve e tem uma duração de bateria muito melhor, sem mencionar o preço mais baixo (2500 vs. 2700 Euros, ~$2926 vs. ~$3161).
