Contra
Portáteis empresariais acessíveis como a nossa unidade em questão, às vezes são descritos como o "pão e manteiga" do mercado de portáteis pelos fabricantes: não particularmente excitante, mas um campeão de vendas. Afastar-se da concorrência é bastante difícil, e a maioria dos aparelhos se perde entre a multidão. Este também é o caso do TravelMate P449: portátil empresarial sólido, mas nada extravagante.
Particularmente simpático foi o muito bom touchpad do P449. Um touchpad medíocre ou ruim pode arruinar toda a experiência e, nós damos as boas-vindas ao fato de que a maioria dos fabricantes vem prestando cada vez mais atenção ao touchpad nos últimos anos. Considerando que alguns fabricantes, como a HP, ainda estão equipando seus portáteis empresariais com painéis TN inferiores e painéis mesquinhos, o painel IPS do P449 é definitivamente uma vantagem. Também gostamos das baixas temperaturas de superfície do P449 e do veloz SSD PCIe com o qual nenhum dos concorrentes estava equipado.
Não é de primeira qualidade, mas não está mal. O TravelMate P449 é uma obra suave, porém, bem feita.
Lamentavelmente, o dinheiro gasto por um lado deve retirado de outro e, em troca do veloz SSD PCIe, o P449 está equipado com um leitor de cartões SD muito lento e mal projetado. Além disso, também não gostamos o design alterado do teclado, e porque o P449 tem um slot para uma unidade de 2,5 polegadas, mas faltam os conectores, continua sendo um mistério, igual que a ventoinha. Dadas as baixas temperaturas, nós realmente não vemos motivo pelo qual ventoinha não é desativada completamente quando o aparelho esta no modo inativo e sob uso leve. Como com todos os aparelhos neste segmento de mercado, o espaço de cores da tela foi bastante pobre. A duração da bateria foi muito pobre, e todos os outros aparelhos duraram muito mais em nossos testes.
Em resumo, o TravelMate P449 ainda pode ser um aparelho agradável, desde que se acostume ao teclado. No entanto, nenhum de seus concorrentes foi perfeito, mas alguns oferecem algumas vantagens, como baterias removíveis ou GPUs dedicadas.
