O LG Gram 17 é projetado para mobilidade desde o início. O hardware do portátil é coberto por uma elegante e compacta carcaça de metal que traz cerca de 1.350 gramas (~ 2,98 lb) para a balança. Uma bateria de 80 Wh garante durações de cerca de 11 a 12 horas na prática. 

A bateria pode ser carregada por meio da fonte de alimentação proprietária incluída ou usando um carregador USB conectado à porta Thunderbolt 3. Este último também oferece a opção de uma solução docking ou conectar uma GPU externa ao portátil.

Embora o processador Core i7-1065G7 integrado oferece desempenho suficiente para aplicativos de escritório e Internet, ele não usa todos os seus recursos. Os resultados de benchmark não se diferenciam muito do LG Gram 15 equipado com o Core i5-1035G7. Já que a vantagem do Core i7 é muito baixa, um modelo Core i5 é recomendado para compradores potenciais do Gram 17. A LG parece ter dado prioridade à operação silenciosa sobre o desempenho máximo. O portátil dificilmente produz qualquer ruído e aquece apenas moderadamente.

A tela no formato 16:10 representa o destaque do portátil.

A tela ganha pontos com amplo brilho, bom contraste, ângulos de visão estáveis, reprodução de cores decente e cobertura de espaço de cores aceitável. Infelizmente, a LG decidiu usar um modelo de tela com superfície refletiva, o que vai contra as aspirações móveis do portátil. Uma tela mate também deve ser oferecida aqui. No entanto, após um curto período de uso, você não vai querer perder a altura adicional oferecida pelo painel em comparação com uma tela 16:9. Esperamos que outros fabricantes também voltem ao formato de tela 16:10.
