O Yoga C630 da Lenovo é mais um passo em direção ao Windows em ARM (ou, neste caso, o Windows no Snapdragon - WOS) como uma opção prática, mas ele não vem sem uma série inevitável de advertências. A principal delas é a compatibilidade, que provavelmente será um problema, pelo menos ocasionalmente, durante a vida útil do sistema, com qualquer usuário diário. Paralelo a isso estão as discrepâncias de desempenho, que só podem ser descritas com precisão como dicotômicas: em aplicativos otimizados para ARM, o chip pode ser bastante rápido, mas todo o resto tende a se arrastar notavelmente mais devagar do que os da Intel. Problematicamente, o preço não reflete necessariamente os possíveis testes apresentados por esses inúmeros trabalhos em andamento: $ 900+ é muito para pedir por um computador que se sente, pelo menos em parte, não completamente pronto para as grandes ligas.

O Yoga C630 possui um conjunto exclusivo de vantagens em relação às máquinas tradicionais x86, como a implementação extra-eficiente do Standby conectado, o formato altamente portátil e o design sem ventilador. Mas a um preço tão alto, lutas duradouras por compatibilidade de aplicativos e discrepâncias substanciais de desempenho entre aplicativos ARM e x86 tornam difícil sua recomendação incondicional.

Também existem algumas outras falhas notáveis. A seleção de portas é notoriamente limitada e a manutenção/atualização é quase impossível (dada a natureza monolítica dos componentes internos). Por fim, uma pequena reclamação é o armazenamento, que, embora mais rápido que um disco rígido ou eMMC, não é realmente comparável à maioria dos SSDs modernos, graças ao atraso de 4K e desempenho de gravação em qualquer profundidade de fila.

No entanto, também há muitos pontos brilhantes, e alguns deles são importantes se você estiver disposto a lidar com os desafios listados acima. Eles são conduzidos pelos tempos quase instantâneos de suspensão/retomada possibilitados pelos recursos do modo de espera conectado (denominado "Sempre ligado, sempre conectado" pela Lenovo), bem como pela capacidade de atualizar e-mails e outros conteúdos enquanto estão no modo de espera. Este recurso apenas, certamente será totalmente atrativo os guerreiros da estrada e para os que dependem de seus portáteis imediatamente.

O próximo passo é o resfriamento passivo, que não apenas torna a máquina silenciosa, mas também reduz a probabilidade de uma falha mecânica (já que hoje em dia o ventilador é o único dispositivo mecânico alimentado restante em um portátil). A portabilidade, por sua vez, vê um grande impulso graças ao formato menor (possível, em parte, graças à pequena placa mãe e à falta de um ventilador) e ao menor peso. E, finalmente, os dispositivos de construção e de entrada são muito bons no geral. Apesar das preocupações de desempenho e compatibilidade, este portátil parece pronto para competir com os pesos pesados da dos Ultrabooks.

Em suma, os Ultrabooks convencionais equipados com processadores Intel têm absolutamente uma grande vantagem de desempenho ainda hoje (em janeiro de 2019). Mas, à medida que os aplicativos otimizados por ARM crescem em número, pode chegar um momento em um futuro não muito distante (no próximo domingo?), em que essas diferenças de desempenho podem começam a diminuir repentinamente. Se as vantagens exclusivas do dispositivo sempre ativo, sem ventoinha e ultrafino, superam as desvantagens de seu desempenho geral esquizofrênico inconsistente e incompatível, é uma decisão que terá que ser tomada individualmente pelo usuário.
