Há muito do que gostar  no EliteBook x360 1020 G2. As maiores falhas são talvez a sua forte filosofia de design conversível inspirado no Spectre, tela super brilhante que é mais brilhante do que qualquer portátil  de consumidor disponível e um modo de tablet que seja realmente leve e não pesado quando está em movimento. A qualidade de áudio forte e equilibrada e a resposta do teclado satisfatório são vantagens muito surpreendentes que provam que tais características não precisam ser prejudicadas por design menores. Apreciamos que a HP não tenha ignorado os recursos de segurança, apesar do foco em um perfil mais fino e elegante. Combine isso com opções de tela Sure View de 4K UHD e FHD 120 Hz e o 1020 G2 torna-se facilmente um conversível de negócios único.

Por mais único que possa ser na categoria de subportáteis empresariais conversíveis, o 1020 G2 está longe de ser perfeito. Há uma lista de recursos omitidos e outras estranhezas, conforme mostrado na nossa lista de Pros e Contras, que os potenciais compradores devem ter em mente. A sua seleção de portas continua a ser muito limitada e é difícil ignorar para um portátil de classe empresarial.

Em um nível mais profundo, a tela exibe algumas desvantagens notáveis, apesar da sua fachada muito brilhante. Por um lado, o grau de bleeding da luz de fundo é muito alto para um sistema carro-chefe nesta faixa de preços, dado que é algo que esperaríamos de em um portátil de consumo de orçamento. Em segundo lugar, o PWM está presente em quase todos os níveis de brilho para potencialmente afastar os usuários que são sensíveis à cintilação na tela. A luz de fundo muito brilhante realmente exacerba esse problema, pois a tela estaria cintilante em intensidades mais brilhantes do que a maioria dos outros portáteis. Por fim, a tela é um pouco granulada para um painel refletivo e o brilho aparente cai bruscamente se não estiver sentado diretamente na frente da tela. Em comparação, as telas do Surface Pro e do Miix 520 parecem mais nítidas e sem problemas de uniformidade de brilho independentemente da orientação. Não temos certeza se isso é devido à camada Sure View ou se os SKUs sem Sure View também sofrem com essas mesmas anomalias, e é algo que investigaremos ainda mais através de SKUs adicionais.

Nossa lista de desejos para o EliteBook x360 1020 G2 sucessor é curta, mas justificável. USB Type-A, MicroSD, 4G LTE, 4K UHD 120 Hz, tela táctil mate e Kaby Lake-R ou Iris Pro impulsionariam a série acima e além do Surface Pro, MacBook 12XPS 13 9365, e Latitude 7280. Abordar o PWM e avançando para os ventiladores de diâmetro maior afetariam menos usuários que talvez fossem mais sensíveis ao cintilamento e ao ruído agudo do ventilador. Até então, este é o melhor subportátil conversível Windows disponível em termos de visibilidade em exteriores, tactilidade, qualidade de som e segurança.

O EliteBook x360 1020 G2 possui recursos de tela não encontrados em nenhum outro portátil empresarial, incluindo a opção para um painel brilhante de 120 Hz 700 nit. Existem algumas características estranhas em relação ao brilho em certos ângulos de visão e uma tela refletiva ligeiramente granulada. No entanto, os usuários que estão acostumados a transportar dongles e adaptadores e podem explorar o modo tablet e a tela muito brilhante não serão decepcionados por esta máquina empresarial reconhecidamente atraente.
