AMD A10-4600M
A AMD A10-4600M é um processador quad-core móvel baseado na arquitetura Trinity. Apresentado oficialmente no segundo trimestre de 2012, é o sucessor direto da série A Llano de APUs (Accelerated Processing Unit) e atualmente é o APU Trinity móvel mais veloz no mercado. A unidade de processamento é produzida em 32nm SOI e integra um CPU de 2,3 GHz (até 3,2 GHz com Turbo Core) com um GPU relativamente veloz Radeon HD 7660G junto com um controlador de memória de dois canais, decodificadores e codificadores de vídeo e um northbridge. Os núcleos do CPU se baseiam em uma arquitetura Bulldozer reformulada, chamada Piledriver. Embora seja comercializado como um processador quad-core, o A10-4600M inclui apenas dois módulos com quatro núcleos inteiros e dois núcleos de ponto flutuante, no total. Como resultado, o CPU não é um verdadeiro processador quad-core. Quando comparado com anteriores núcleos Bulldozer, a AMD conseguiu melhorar o desempenho IPC (instructions per clock) de núcleos Trinity enquanto permite freqüências superiores. No entanto, quando comparado com o seu predecessor Llano, o desempenho multithreaded do Trinity foi apenas ligeiramente melhorado. O recurso Turbo Core 3.0 aprimorado funciona bem acelerando o desempenho single threaded, embora ainda não esteja no mesmo nível do equivalente Turbo Boost da Intel. Apesar de tudo, a AMD também conseguiu incluir outros recursos, tal como a extensão AVX (incluindo FMA) e suporte para a codificação AES. A Radeon HD 7660G integrada, com suporte para DirectX 11 oferece todos os 384 núcleos shader do chip Trinity e, graças ao Turbo Core, operará em algum lugar entre 497 a 686 MHz dependendo da exigência do aplicativo. Em média, o desempenho do GPU HD 7660G é comparável com o de uma Radeon HD 6650M dedicada e é até mesmo evidentemente mais veloz que a HD Graphics 4000 encontrada no Ivy Bridge da Intel. O consumo de energia do APU A10-4600M se classifica com TDP de 35 Watts e é,portanto, comparável com processadores dual-core de gama média Ivy Bridge. Conseqüentemente, o A10-4600M é mais adequado para portáteis de 14 polegadas ou superiores.
